Various non-invasive sensors are adapted to be placed on a surface of an object having a volume with an internal region. The internal region of the object has internal properties indicated by corresponding internal parameters and an internal temperature distribution that is a function of the internal parameters and surface thermal signals. Each non-invasive sensor includes a heat flux sensor having one or more heat flux sensor output terminals to provide a measured heat transfer signal for the surface of the object, and a temperature sensor having one or more temperature sensor output terminals to provide a measured temperature signal for the surface of the object. Systems including one or more of the sensors perform non-invasive sensing of the object including accurate and rapid determination of an internal temperature distribution of the internal region of the object as well as one or more other internal properties of the object.

Sensor data indicative of movement of a runner's foot is received from a foot strike monitor configured with the shoes and processed through the model to determine a user's expected lifetime for the shoes. The user's expected lifetime is indicated to the user.

A sensor system configured for use with an article of apparel includes one or a plurality of sensors formed of a polymeric material having a conductive particulate material dispersed therein and conductive leads connecting the sensors to a port. The leads may also be formed of a polymeric material having a conductive particulate material dispersed therein. The conductive material is dispersed in the sensor(s) at a first dispersion density and the conductive material is dispersed in the leads at a second dispersion density that is higher than the first dispersion density. Each of the sensors is configured to increase in resistance when deformed under pressure, which is detected by a module connected to the port. The second dispersion density is such that each of the leads has sufficient conductivity that the leads are configured to conduct an electronic signal between each sensor and the port in any state of deformation.

An auditory guidance system and method for medical systems and procedures are disclosed. A method for providing auditory guidance during a medical procedure includes selecting a song for playing during the medical procedure. At least a portion of the song is assigned to the medical procedure. Parameter information for at least one parameter associated with the medical procedure is obtained during the medical procedure. The obtained parameter information is compared against predetermined thresholds for each parameter. The portion of the song associated with the parameter information is modified in accordance with the comparison and the modified portion of the song is played to provide auditory guidance during the medical procedure.
