System and method of detecting sleep disorders
An apparatus for detecting sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea, includes a housing insertable into an ear canal of a subject. A sensor disposed within the housing measures a position of the subject's head relative to an axis of gravity. A transducer is responsive to the sensor and is capable of creating a stimulus detectable by the subject under certain conditions. In various embodiments, a controller receives signals corresponding to a pitch angle and a roll angle of the subject's head measured by the sensor, determines if the pitch and roll angles correspond to a sleep apnea inducing position, and causes the transducer to generate a stimulus upon determining that the subject's head is in the sleep apnea inducing position more than a predetermined threshold number of times. Various parameters of the stimulus may be modified with successive stimulus generation until a non-sleep apnea inducing position is detected.
Cardiovascular signal acquisition, fusion, and noise mitigation
A device including an array of electrodes generates one or more electrical signals from a user, extracts one or more noise signals, and generates one or more de-noised electrical signals upon processing the electrical signal(s) with the noise signal(s). The array of electrodes is coupled to a surface of the device, where the device also includes force sensors in mechanical communication with the surface for detecting user weight and other forces. The device can be configured to generate electrical signals from different subportions of the array of electrodes and to extract noise signals from different subportions of the array of electrodes, where the subportion(s) for electrical signal generation may or may not overlap with the subportion(s) of electrodes for noise signal extraction.
Systems and methods for concentrating alkali metal within a vapor cell of a magnetometer away from a transit path of light
An exemplary wearable sensor unit includes 1) a magnetometer comprising a vapor cell comprising an input window and containing an alkali metal, and a light source configured to output light that passes through the input window and into the vapor cell along a transit path, and 2) a temperature control circuit external to the vapor cell and configured to create a temperature gradient within the vapor cell, the temperature gradient configured to concentrate the alkali metal within the vapor cell away from the transit path of the light.
DETECTION DEVICE
A detection device includes an annular substrate, optical sensors annularly arranged along the substrate, and a plurality of light sources annularly arranged correspondingly to the arrangement of the optical sensors.
Insertion device
Embodiments relate to an insertion device that includes: a plunger coupled with a lock collar. The insertion device houses contents including: a striker including self-locking striker snap arm(s) where the striker is kept from firing by a striker spring captured between the plunger and the striker when the insertion device is in a cocked position; a sensor assembly; and a needle carrier that holds a piercing member, the needle carrier captured between the striker and a needle carrier spring where a self-releasing snap(s) keeps the needle carrier cocked, where the plunger prevents the self-releasing snap(s) from repositioning and releasing the needle carrier. The striker fires the needle carrier such that the self-locking striker snap arm(s) are positioned to allow the striker to snap down. The needle carrier is then retracted when the user releases the plunger and the piercing member is encapsulated within the insertion device.
ZIPPER-TYPE CIRCUIT FABRIC AND SMART CLOTHES COMPOSED THEREOF
A zipper-type circuit fabric and smart clothes composed thereof include a clothes body. The clothes body is made of waterproof conductive fabric body. The waterproof conductive fabric body includes a plurality of conductive wires and conductive contacts. Rectangular elongated conductive media and folded conductive media are arranged inside the conductive wires so that the conductive media are stable and ductile. The clothes body is further provided with a waterproof zipper body. The zipper teeth on the waterproof zipper body are all electrically connected to the conductive wires. When the zipper body is closed, a metal probe on a zipper tooth is placed into a connecting slot so that the left and right sides of the clothes body form a closed circuit. The clothes body can be connected to glove bodies and includes a plurality of flexible sensors internally.
Basket Catheter Having Ablation Electrodes and Temperature Sensors
A catheter includes: (i) a shaft for insertion into an organ of a patient, (ii) an expandable distal-end assembly, which is coupled to the shaft and includes multiple splines, (iii) at least an ablation electrode, which is configured: (a) to be coupled to a spline of the splines, and (b) when placed in contact with tissue of the organ, to apply an ablation signal to the tissue, and the ablation electrode includes a slot, and (iv) a temperature sensor, which is contained within the slot and is configured, when the ablation electrode is placed in contact with the tissue, to produce a thermal signal indicative of a temperature of the tissue.
Non-invasive optical detection system and method of multiple-scattered light with swept source illumination
An optical source sweeps a source light over an optical wavelength range. An interferometer splits the source light into sample light and reference light, delivers the sample light into an anatomical structure, such that the sample light is scattered by the anatomical structure, resulting in physiological-encoded signal light that exits the anatomical structure, and combines the signal light and the reference light into an interference light pattern having an array of spatial components and a plurality of oscillation frequency components. An optical detector array detects intensity values of the array of spatial components. A processor derives an array of intensity values of each oscillation frequency component from the detected spatial component intensity value array, reduces each derived oscillation frequency component intensity value array to a single frequency component intensity value, and determines a depth of a physiological event in the anatomical structure based on the reduced frequency component intensity values.
Adaptive audio therapy system
An adaptive audio therapy system which detects and processes one or more individuals' conditions to provide adaptive, continuous audio therapy in real-time. The adaptive audio therapy system generally includes a detection device that is typically in physical contact with an individual, such as a pacifier or steering wheel. The detection device may include sensors to detect various conditions of the individual, such as heart rate, respiration rate, temperature, and the like. A computing device receives and processes the various conditions detected by the sensors. Based on the detected conditions, the computing device provides audio therapy which is adaptive to the condition of the patient and which is continuously adapted in real-time.
