A material handling apparatus and method is disclosed, including a grabber clamp apparatus and method for handling, such as grabbing and pulling, elongate binding material. The grabber clamp is capable of gripping one or more elongate binding material strands securely enough to pull it from the bale but without cutting the elongate binding material strand(s). The current invention also provides an elongate binding material puller for removing elongate binding material from a bale. The elongate binding material puller should be capable of automatically, mechanically removing elongate binding material from a bale. The method uses a grabber clamp to grip a strand of elongate binding material between two blunt points such that a portion of the elongate binding material is free from clamping pressure between the two blunt points.

A method and apparatus for sealing a plastic enclosure is provided. The apparatus includes a handle including elements pivotally coupled together at a first end. The apparatus also includes a pair of spaced apart heating elements positioned along an inner surface of an element and connected to a power source where a longitudinal axis of the heating elements is oriented parallel with a longitudinal axis of the element. Plastic material including first and second plastic layers is positioned at an interface between the second elements. Upon pivoting the first elements from an open position to a closed position the heating elements increase a temperature at the interface to melt the plastic material and form a pair of spaced apart seals between the first and second plastic layers.

CASE UNPACKING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A system and method for unpacking a case are provided. The system may comprise a work surface that defines a cutting, extraction, and unloading position and a robot configured to move the cases between the respective positions. The robot may first engage and position the case in the cutting position, wherein a plurality of cutting arms cut a first pair of sides simultaneously near the case bottom. The robot rotates the case and the cutting arms cut another pair of sides simultaneously near the case bottom. The robot then moves the case from the cutting position to the extraction position, where the case bottom is retained and removed from the case. The robot then moves the bottomless case from the extraction position to the unloading position adjacent to the work surface, wherein the product inside the case is deposited into a receptacle through the open case bottom.

Each holder is configured to hold at least one container of the plurality of containers. In the series of container operation locations, the holders receive containers, the containers are cut to form pharmaceutical outlets in the containers, pharmaceuticals are moved out of the pharmaceutical outlets, and empty containers are dropped by the holders.

First scanned images of the first container are received from a scanning device that show the contents of the interior of the first container before the first container is cut and opened. Second scanned images that are of the contents of the first container after the first container is cut and opened are also received. The images are analyzed and, based upon the analysis, selective modifications to the operating parameters of the container opening machine are determined and made.
