Systems and methods for spatial positioning of diagnostic and or treatment probe based on surface profile detection

Systems and methods are disclosed in which a diagnostic probe is configured for performing diagnostic measurements and/or therapeutic interventions and for measuring the local surface profile of a local surface region an object. Various example embodiments are described in which the surface profile of the local surface region, when compared to the surface profile of an extended surface region, is employed to provide guidance for positioning and/or orienting the probe when performing a diagnostic measurement. The surface profile within the local surface region may be employed to generate feedback for repeating a previous diagnostic measurement, such that the repeat measurement is performed at the previous location on the object. In other embodiments, surface profile detection is employed to control the positional and/or orientational probe alignment during an iterative tissue removal method in which successive tissue layers are removed when the presence of a pathology is confirmed via a diagnostic measurement.

Various apparatus and methods for cleaning teeth and gingival pockets are disclosed herein. A fluid platform can include a pressure wave generator configured to propagate pressure waves through a treatment fluid. The pressure waves may be sufficient to remove undesirable dental deposits from a treatment tooth, neighboring gums, and/or spaces between the tooth and gums.

AIR INJECTION DEVICE AND DENTAL HANDPIECE SYSTEM

To provide an air injection device for a dental handpiece which makes it possible to obtain a clear image even if the position of an image taking part is changed, provided is an air injection device including: a trunk connector (41) that is in a form of a column, in the trunk connector a passage being formed; an air guiding pipe (45) that is in a form of a pipe, one end of the air guiding pipe being connected to the trunk connector, the air guiding pipe having flexibility; and a means (46) that retains the air guiding pipe in the dental handpiece main body, wherein the passage in the trunk connector branches, one of the branching passages communicating with the air guiding pipedental handpiece.

IMPROVEMENTS IN DENTISTRY

This invention relates to a coolant for cooling a device for use in dentistry, the coolant comprising a Newtonian fluid having a viscosity greater than water. The invention also relates to a method of cooling a device for use in dentistry utilising the coolant, the coolant for use in a method of cooling a device for use in dentistry and an apparatus and kit comprising the coolant.

FLEXIBLE SURGICAL SUCTION DEVICE AND METHOD
20190142558 · 2019-05-16 ·

A siphoning device suited for automatically removing fluid/blood from a surgical site is described, having a length of sterile flexible tubing that is configurable into a loop, the tubing having a first open end, a second open end, and a central portion. A plurality of holes punctuate the circumference of either the first open end or the central portion of the loop, the one or more sets of holes being distributed along a longitudinal direction of the tubing. A sterile absorbent covering encompasses the one or more sets of the plurality of holes, the covering being permeable to bodily fluids. The siphoning device is connected to a vacuum system that generates a negative pressure, causing fluids that have accumulated in the absorbent covering to be withdrawn into the vacuum system. Accordingly, a durable, simple non-gauze system for automatically clearing blood/fluid from a surgical site is described.

DENTAL LASER APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USE WITH INTERCHANGEABLE HAND PIECE AND VARIABLE FOOT PEDAL

A dental laser system for treatment of hard and/or soft tissue includes a main chamber housing optical and primary fluid supply subsystems, for directing a laser beam and fluid to a treatment area. A hand piece affixable to the main chamber, includes mating optical and secondary fluid supply subsystems. The hand piece can be rotatable or re-orientable about an optical axis within the hand piece. A lock can maintain a selectable angular orientation of the hand piece relative to the main chamber. A coupling can maintain a fluidic communication between the primary and secondary fluid supply subsystems even when the hand piece is rotated or re-oriented. A sensor and controller can sense a selected angular orientation of the hand piece and adjust the main optical subsystem according to the sensed angular orientation, to align the two optical subsystems. The laser may be controlled using a variable speed foot pedal.

METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR CLEANING OF A CANAL
