A mail assembly and a method of packing an envelope with the mail assembly. The mail assembly having a mail tray that is sized and shaped to be inserted into a flat envelope and a plurality of protrusions extending distally out of the mail tray and forming at least one holding area on the mail tray for retaining at least one item, wherein each of the plurality protrusions is disconnected from the other protrusions.

A blank is provided for making an insert that satisfies the USPS requirement that a flat-sized mail piece be uniformly thick so that any bumps, protrusions or other irregularities do not cause more than variance in thickness.

In one embodiment, when folded, the blank forms an insert with spacers about a quadrant that receives a good to be mailed.

In other embodiments, when folded, the blank forms an insert with sleeves into which goods may be slid, or an insert with sleeves with closed ends and into which goods may be inserted into cutouts in the sleeves.

An envelope has front panel and a back panel, the front panel and the back panel joined along three edges and open along a fourth edge to provide an opening to an interior of the envelope. A foldable flap extends from the front panel to close the opening. The front panel, back panel and flap are formed of a compostable plastic film, and the envelope is configured to be entirely compostable as-is by a recipient.

Provided is a packaging envelope insertion-type paper buffer safety member which can be inserted into a packaging envelope in order to cushion impacts. The paper buffer safety member includes a base member made of rectangular paper having a certain thickness; and a paper buffer material attached to the rear surface of the base member. A plurality of width direction fold lines are formed on the front surface of the base member so as to be spaced a certain distance from each other. On the front surface of the base member, a first adhesive layer is formed over the entire lower end in the longitudinal direction, and a second adhesive layer is formed over the entire upper end other than a portion of the front side.
