Stable affixation system for guided dental implantation
A stable affixation system for dental implantation includes a fixation tray having, for rapid placement, a housing defining a chamber whose inner surface is configured to house a flowable or malleable material and be placed over one or more teeth during guided dental implantation surgery. Housing side walls are joined to a cross member that has a flexion region on each side of the housing, each side wall having an upper side portion and a lower side portion. Without the lock a squeezing force on the upper side portions flexes the lower side portions outward. The lock urges the upper side portions outward so as to flex the lower side portions inward, thereby urging the material, once hardened, against the teeth. The lock reduces or eliminates freedom of movement of the tray. The system allows rapid removal and is sturdy enough to withstand forces including from various angles and leverage.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING SURFACE TOPOGRAPHY OPTICALLY
An apparatus includes a probe and an illumination unit configured to output light. The apparatus includes a light focusing assembly comprising an image space lens, an object space lens and a focus changing assembly between the image space lens and the object space lens. The light focusing assembly has at least one of the following properties: 1) at least a portion of the focus changing assembly is located at a back focal length of the object space lens, 2) the light focusing assembly is free of moving parts, or 3) the light focusing assembly comprises double telecentric confocal optics. The apparatus includes a detector to measure characteristics of incident light returning from an illuminated patient's teeth and a processor coupled to the detector and configured to generate data representative of a topography of the patient's teeth based on the one or more measured characteristics of the incident light.

A CT apparatus is a so-called CT scanning apparatus that captures a tomographic image of the whole or a part of the area from the upper jaw to the lower jaw of a patient, and outputs CT data (captured image data). An oral cavity scanner is an apparatus that obtains a stereoscopic image by optically capturing an image of the inside of an oral cavity in a state that a plate is fixed to teeth, and outputs the stereoscopic image as three-dimensional shape data. A processing apparatus computes a positional relationship between the teeth and fiducial frame markers on the basis of the CT data and three-dimensional shape data that are obtained by image-capturing performed in a state that the plate is put on the teeth, and a positional relationship between plate markers and the fiducial frame markers.

Method and system for augmented reality guided surgery
A method and system for facilitating the placement of a dental implant device using augmented reality, and simultaneously capturing the result of the placement for subsequent planning procedures. By planning a desired dental implant location using one or more preoperative images of a patient and overlaying the planned dental implant location and the one or more preoperative images on the patient through virtual reality means, a clinician may be provided with an awareness of the positional relationship between the preoperative images and the planned implant position.

A dental drill guiding system includes a drill guide including a hollow tube having an exterior surface and a guide sleeve including an internal surface defining a through bore configured to receive the hollow tube of the drill guide. The exterior surface of the hollow tube and guide sleeve's internal surface have complementary anti-rotation sections. The drill guide's hollow tube further includes at least one radially extending protrusion limited in the axial extent and formed by an increase in radius of the hollow tube in the apical direction and dimensioned for accommodation in at least one undercut of the guide sleeve, such that when at least one protrusion of the hollow tube is housed in at least one undercut of the guide sleeve the hollow tube is axially retained within the guide sleeve such that removal of the drill guide from the guide sleeve in the coronal direction is prevented.
