Apparatus and method of manufacturing open-mouth bags (2), comprising a storage device (3) with a supply (4) of bag film (5), a control device (60) for controlling, a conveying device (6) for conveying the bag film (5) and/or the bag body (16) along a conveying path (7), a welding device (8) with welding means (9, 10) for making a bottom seam (11) in the bag film and a cutting device (12) with a cutting means (13, 14) for separating a predetermined film length (15) of the bag film (5) to form the bag body (16) of an open-mouth bag (2). The control device (60) controls the conveying device (6) so as to cause a relative motion of the bag body (16) and the bag film (5) and a distance (37) between the bag body (16) and the bag film (5) is generated prior to making the bottom seam (11). The control device (60) controls the conveying device (6) and the welding means (9, 10) so that while welding the bottom seam (11) the welding means (9, 10) extend at least up to the bottom end (23) of the bag body (16).

Conveyable sortation bag

A method of sorting a first subset of items in an order handling center, wherein at least a majority of the items of the first subset are sized below a predetermined size limit. The method includes directing the first subset of the items through an opening into a bag having a plurality of panels of flexible material coupled together at a plurality of seams. The method includes causing the bag to assume a substantially cuboid shape as the bag is filled to capacity with the first subset of items and stacking the bag on a pallet at a staging destination within the order handling center. The staging destination is associated with a delivery route from the order handling center.

Produce container

An embodiment includes a bag comprising mesh and film side walls and a reinforcing strip of film; wherein (a) the mesh side wall is sealed to opposing side edges of the film side wall; (b) the reinforcing strip of film is sealed to an upper portion of the mesh side wall and to the opposing side edges of the film side wall; (c) the film side wall has a bottom extension, which is monolithic with the film side wall, extending upwardly and sealed along a lateral extent of a bottom portion of the mesh side wall; (d) the film side wall is non-coplanar with a portion of the bottom extension; (e) another portion of the bottom extension is non-coplanar with the mesh side wall; and (f) a horizontal axis intersects the bottom portion of the film side wall and three portions of the bottom extension.

Secure shopping bag

A security handle for a bag that holds merchandise, a bag incorporating the handle and a method of using the same. A first handle section of the security handle is secured to a first wall of the bag. A second section of the handle is folded over an upper end of the bag and is secured to a second wall of the bag that is opposite the first wall. The handle thereby closes off access to an interior compartment defined by the bag, thereby securing merchandise within the interior compartment. The handle includes a selectively removable tamper-proof opener member positioned between the first and second handle sections. The opener member is removed after delivery of the bag to a customer to allow access to interior compartment of the bag. The opener member may be a pull tab that is integrally formed with the first and second handle sections.
