The handle (12) has an upper handle portion (12a) and a pair of spaced-apart legs (13, 15). The legs extend from the upper handle portion to the body on opposing sides of the neck. The flexible container includes a fitment (70) sealed to the neck. The flexible container includes a dispensing pump (100) attached to the fitment. The flexible container can provide a metered dose from a dispensing pump and the dispensing pump can also function as a handle to hand-carry the flexible container.

A flat-bottomed bag is formed from a flexible sheet that initially is flat prior to being manipulated to form the bag. The sheet is a laminate of a first web and a second web laminated together by an adhesive layer disposed between the webs. The sheet defines a plurality of serially connected side wall panels collectively defining a vertically extending side wall of the bag, and a plurality of bottom panels respectively connected to the side wall panels at respective fold lines. The bottom panels are folded about the fold lines and are attached together to form a flat bottom wall configured to support the bag in an upright orientation. The adhesive layer is in a partial-coverage pattern that includes adhesive-free regions located along each fold line between each bottom panel and the respective side wall panel connected therewith.

One of the opposite end portions of the side gusset is obliquely folded in half along a fold line and interposed between the two layers of the side gusset, so that the flap is formed by the end portion between the two layers of the side gusset. The flap includes a folded edge formed by a folded inner edge of the side gusset, and an open edge formed by one of the opposite end edges of the side gusset. The flap further includes a joining edge extending straight or curved and joining the folded edge and the open edge on opposite sides of the fold line.

The method comprises a first step of folding a sheet (60) made of flexible material along two first fold lines (L1) which are mutually parallel so as to form a tubular element (61). Moreover, the method comprises a second step that consists in folding an end portion of the tubular element (61) along two second fold lines (L2) that are oblique with respect to the direction of the first fold lines (L1) so as to form an end portion of the tubular element (61) that has two triangular portions (6, 7) having two mutually parallel sides (8, 9) and having a distance between each other equal to twice a first predetermined distance (D1). In addition, the present invention also comprises a machine (200) which allows using such method and a package that can be made by means of such method and such machine.

The volume control storage bag may have first and second sidewalls, a double-locking closure mechanism with a first closure element extending along the first sidewall and a second closure element extending along the second sidewall, each closure element having a channel and an elongated member configured for interlocking with one another. A gusset is sealed along three sides of the first and second sidewalls, leaving an opening through the closure mechanism and defining an interior space having a specific volume. Corner seals may be formed at the corners of the first and second sidewalls, further reinforcing the double-locking closure mechanism for an airtight and hence waterproof seal. The volume control storage bag may be made of a food-grade polyethylene vinyl acetate blend, approximately 90% or less ethylene vinyl acetate and approximately 10% or less polyethylene.
