Two-part dispensing closure system with internal seal and methods of using the same
A dispensing closure system includes an upper closure portion and a lower closure portion including an axial flow conduit and a vent conduit. The upper closure portion is axially movable relative to lower closure portion between shipping and dispensing positions. A seal is disposed on the lower closure portion over the flow and vent conduits. A peripheral spacing strip is removably secured to the upper closure portion and engages with either the lower closure or the outside of the container to prevent movement. A piercing probe includes piercing elements in alignment with the flow and vent conduits for piercing the seal. In the shipping position, the piercing elements are spaced from the seal. However, when the spacing strip is removed and the upper closure portion is axially moved to the dispensing position, the piercing elements pierce the seal to open the flow conduit and the vent conduit.
Septa
A septum includes a disc made of an elastomeric material that is capable of being pierced by a needle and resealing itself when the needle is withdrawn. Embedded in the middle of the disc, from top to bottom, is a ring made of a material that is more rigid than the elastomeric material of the disc. The ring has a center circular opening that is filled by the elastomeric material of the disc. The outer circumference of the ring is greater than the circumference of the disc and extends outwardly beyond the circumference of the disc. The outer part of the ring interacts with the inner screw threads of a cap and supports the septum in the cap. A plurality of additional openings equally spaced about the ring adjacent its outer circumference are also filled with the elastic material of the disc to provide additional support for the septum.
BLEND THROUGH CUP LID
A lid, a disposable cup with the lid, and a blending machine for use with the lid and cup which is particularly well-suited for use in a self-service blending environment where material is initially provided in unblended form in the disposable cup, is blended in the disposable cup, and the disposable cup is used by the end user during consumption of the material. The lid is designed to allow for a blade assembly of the blending machine to pass through the lid and into the cup without it having to be removed.
Cone-Shaped Bottle Insert
It can be very difficult to extract all of the liquid medication from a bottle with a flat top, using a hypodermic syringe with a needle for giving vaccinations as the liquid remains flat and even. The interior of the cone-shaped bottle insert is cone-shaped to allow the liquid to flow downward into the smaller pointed end, reducing the surface area of the liquid. This allows for the liquid to be fully and easily extracted. The cone-shaped bottle insert will eliminate the current and wasteful problem of not being able to extract all of the liquid from the bottle. The cone-shaped bottle insert can also be used for extracting liquid oral medications, using an oral syringe, without a needle, by adding a hole at the smaller pointed end.
PIERCEABLE CLOSURE VALVE ASSEMBLY
The present application relates to a closure assembly for connection to a spout in fluid communication with a container. The closure assembly includes a housing configured to be secured to the spout and including a fluid passageway and a piercable membrane in the fluid passageway. The closure assembly includes a retention member configured to be secured to the housing and a flexible valve that is positioned in the fluid passageway of the housing and that is secured to the housing by the retention member. The closure assembly is configured to receive a piercing element that extends into the housing such that the piercing member can pierce the valve and the membrane, and the retention member has locking elements that engage the piercing element to lock the piercing element in place with respect to the assembly.
Preparation of therapeutic foam
A device is described for facilitating the preparation of therapeutic foam e.g. for the treatment of varicose veins. A pressurised vial contains a sclerosant liquid, e.g., polidocanol solution, and a sterile gas which is readily absorbed by the body, e.g., carbon dioxide, oxygen or a mixture of these gases. The vial is provided either with a specialised stopper/seal into which a syringe nozzle may be inserted or alternatively a septum seal which may be penetrated by a hypodermic needle. The quantities of gas and liquid and the pressure in the vial are pre-set so that, on connection of a syringe to the vial, a predetermined volume of both gas and liquid is transferred to the syringe, with the intention that the syringe is then used to make a foam by known means. The use of the vial ensures that the ratio of gas to liquid in the foam is standardised, and also provides a convenient way of packaging the gas and liquid and of filling the syringe in a sterile manner.
RECLOSING SEPTUM CAP FOR MEDICAL SAMPLE TRANSPORT AND PROCESSING
A pierceable cap may be used for containing sample specimens. The pierceable cap may prevent escape of sample specimens before transfer with a transfer device. The pierceable cap may fit over a vessel. An access port in the shell of the pierceable cap may allow passage of a transfer device through the pierceable cap. The shell receives a septum that has four half dome indentations, each indentation defining a quadrant of the septum interior. The indentations are separated by the septum floor which extends along respective first and second diameters of the septum and intersect at approximately ninety degrees. The half dome indentations guide a transfer device to the partially slitted portion of the septum floor.
System and Method for Containing and Dispensing Fluids
An integral injection molded strip (10) of a single plastic material is provided, the strip comprising a plurality of vials (20) connected by frangible (breakable) connecting members (38). Each vial (as molded as part of the integral injection molded strip) has a neck portion (30) with an internal delivery passage (31) and a squeezable body portion (22), the squeezable body portion having an internal chamber (23) for holding a single dose of a fluid product (50), the chamber (23) having an open top end (24) fluidly connected to the internal delivery passage (31) in the neck portion, and the chamber having a bottom end (25) adapted for filling with the fluid product. The internal delivery passage (31) (of the neck portion) has an open bottom end (33) fluidly connecting to the body chamber, an opposing open top end (32), and an integral injection molded internal membrane (34) (formed in the delivery channel during injection molding of the integral strip of vials) that seals the delivery passage (31) prior to being pierced by a needle (62) of a dispensing device (60).
BEVERAGE CONTAINER INFUSION PORT AND METHOD OF USE
There is provided an infusion septum for a beverage container and more specifically, an infusion septum that is integrated within a beverage can end or a container cap and a method of infusion.
Primary packaging for storage and administration of medical and pharmaceutical compounds
A primary packaging for storage and/or administration of medical or pharmaceutical compounds includes a container that has a predetermined filling volume for receiving a medical or pharmaceutical compound. The container is permanently closed at a first end and has an integrally formed, circumferential flange portion at an open second end. The container has a cylindrical barrel that extends between the first end and the flange portion such that the barrel has an inner diameter and outer diameter corresponding to that of a standardized syringe for a nominal volume of the standardized syringe corresponding to the predetermined filling volume. Furthermore, a cross-sectional shape of the flange portion corresponds to the cross-sectional shape of a flange of a standardized vial. The primary packaging also includes a closure element that is adapted to fit tightly on the flange portion and into the barrel for sealing the open second end of the container.
