CORELESS FLEXIBLE FILM PACKAGING SYSTEM AND CORELESS CONTAINMENT PACKAGE THEREFOR
A coreless flexible film packaging system is disclosed. The system includes: (i) a containment cylinder including a cylindrical wall defining first and second cylinder end apertures and an interior film containment area; (ii) a film feed slot in the cylindrical wall extending longitudinally along the containment cylinder; and (iii) a supply of flexible film wound about itself to form a film roll having a central cylindrical cavity, said roll including a leading end and a terminal end and contained within the interior film containment area. A coreless containment package and a method for packaging a flexible film are also described.
Pipe thread protector with an inner tapered groove
A thread protector comprises a hollow cylindrical body with a substantially closed end and a threaded inner annular wall extending from the substantially closed end. An annular ring extends inwardly from the substantially closed end. The annular ring has a sloped wall which is spaced-apart from and faces the threaded inner annular wall.

THREADED TUBULAR END PROTECTOR
A thread protector that has an external sleeve to protect pin threads disposed on a pin end of a tubular member. The thread protector also has flange disposed on a first end of the external sleeve to engage with the pin end of the tubular member. The thread protector further includes a securing apparatus extending from the flange to frictionally engage an inside portion of the tubular member to maintain position of the thread protector on the tubular member. A method of protecting the pin threads of the pin ends of the tubular members. The method includes screwing the thread protector on the pin threads of the pin end of the tubular member.
Systems and methods for debris-free nuclear component handling
Packaging structures and systems are used for handling components for use in a nuclear reactor. The packaging protects the component during transport and handling and then dissolves in liquid in the nuclear reactor or fuel pool. The packaging need not be removed and may block flow paths or otherwise interfere with operability were it not for its dissolution. The packaging may include shock absorbers in a fuel assembly or a seal on a water rod in the assembly. Mechanical, frictional, or chemical retaining materials may be used to secure the packaging and may also dissolve in the liquid. For a light water reactor, polymers, protein gels, and plastics can all be used where they will dissolve in the water and are otherwise compatible with reactor chemistry and neutronics. Materials with higher temperatures for solubility may be used because they will dissolve when reactor operations commence.
THREADED TUBULAR END PROTECTOR
A thread protector that has an external sleeve having threads disposed on an inner side to engage with pin threads disposed on a pin end of a tubular member. The thread protector also has a flange disposed on a first end of the external sleeve to engage with the pin end of the tubular member, the threads on the inner side of the external sleeve are disposed axially adjacent to the flange and radially adjacent to the end of the pin end of the tubular member. A method of protecting the pin threads of the pin ends of the tubular members. The method includes screwing the thread protector on the pin threads of the pin end of the tubular member.
LOCKING CAP FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTIONS
A locking cap may be selectively locked into place within a tubular opening, such as the open end of a standpipe used to charge a building sprinkler system. The locking cap may have a plug portion. A friction load can be used to limit the unauthorized removal of the plug portion.

Threaded plug and protective element for a plug
A threaded plug includes a structure which extends along an axis and includes a head, a body provided with an outer thread, and a clamping flange inserted between the head and the body; wherein the head includes, along the axis, at least one first portion having an outer lateral surface which features a first profile and at least one second portion having an outer lateral surface which features a second profile which is not coincident with the first profile.
APPARATUS FOR HANDLING PROTECTORS FOR ELONGATE OBJECTS
An apparatus is proposed for applying and removing protective caps (1) to and from the ends of elongate members (6). The protective cap (1) has a hard base portion (5) and a cover portion (2) of flexible, resilient material, extending from the base portion (5) and operative to cover a portion of an outer surface of the elongate member (6). The apparatus comprises: a gripping mechanism (44) operative to grip the hard base portion (5) of the protective cap (1); a drive mechanism, connected to the gripping mechanism (44), operative to move the protective cap (1) to and from the end of the elongate member (6); and a tool operative to perform at least one of the operations of (i) unfurling the cover portion to secure it to the outer surface of the elongate member, (ii) furling the cover portion to detach it from the outer surface of the elongate member.
