Cast orthodontic retainer system
A cast orthodontic retainer system for reducing discomfort and improving durability. The cast orthodontic retainer system generally includes a palatal portion for positioning against the palate of a patient's mouth and a retention portion for extending across an anterior portion of the patient's teeth. The palatal portion of the present invention is fabricated of a cast metallic material, thus allowing for the palatal portion to be substantially thinner than the palatal portions of retainers in the prior art. In a preferred embodiment, the palatal portion of the present invention will be fabricated of a combination of cobalt, chromium and molybdenum (generally marketed under the trademark VITALLIUM). The palatal portion of the orthodontic retainer is preferably cast from the metallic material utilizing the lost wax technique of casting.
Intra-oral appliance for field isolation and moisture control
An intra-oral simultaneous bilateral inter arch isolation appliance features a generally W-shaped body having first and second cheek retractor wings, and first and second transitions respectively joining the cheek retractor wings to a tongue crib of generally U-shaped configuration with an open posterior end. In a patient worn position, each cheek retractor wing runs buccally along a respective half of a patient's dental arches to retract and isolate buccal mucosa, while the transitions curve posteriorly around the rear molars between the maxillary tuberosity and retromolar pad to carry the tongue crib inside the dental arches, where it shields and isolates the tongue. Commissure cradles at anterior ends of the cheek retractor wings hook around the patient's oral commissures at terminal ends of the appliance. Inner passageways within the body accommodate fluid extraction and/or light transmission through the appliance.
Intermaxillary Fixation Device And Method Of Using Same
A medical apparatus including a bar with a first attachment loop, a second attachment and a plurality of hooks, wherein the medical apparatus is an arch bar.
Orthodontic Appliance for Use During Orthognathic Surgery and Method for Using the Same
A device and method for performing orthodontic decompensation before orthognathic surgery without the aid of braces. The device includes an archwire coupled at either end to a band which is in turn adhered to the first molars of a patient. Disposed along the length of the archwire is a plurality of fixtures which may include a plurality of hooks that work in conjunction with elastics or other components used during the orthognathic procedure. The archwire is formed around the patient's teeth so as to be passive and maintain the patient's current orthodontic treatment progress. The device may be placed on either or both of the upper and lower teeth of the patient before the orthognathic procedure thereby ensuring that the teeth will not move during or after the surgery during the recovery process and that required surgical splints will still fit.
DENTAL SPLINT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A DENTAL SPLINT
The invention relates to a dental splint as an assembly comprising a first subassembly embodied as a dental splint body and having a surface that comes into contact with an oral cavity of a user, a second subassembly embodied as electronics, at least one third subassembly embodied as a sensor, a fourth subassembly embodied as an energy source, at least one fifth subassembly embodied as an antenna, and a sixth subassembly embodied as electrical connection means, wherein the second to fifth subassemblies are connected by the sixth subassembly. In this case, at least one of the second to sixth subassemblies is produced in each case completely or partly in a 3-D printing method.
Systems and methods of producing a customized guidance package equipped appliance
