ORAL POUCH PRODUCT HAVING SOFT EDGE AND METHOD OF MAKING
An oral pouch product having a soft edge includes an inner filling material enclosed inwardly of at least one seam between opposed layers of porous pouch wrapper. The at least one seam is separated from the periphery of the porous pouch wrapper by an unbonded area of the opposed layers so as to form a soft edge of the pouch wrapper.

Package Formed with a Stepped Sonotrode/Anvil Combination Having Energy Director Grids for Narrow Ultrasonic Welds of Improved Durability
A sonotrode and anvil are adapted for ultrasonic welding of work pieces, to produce a narrower weld region that exhibits greater durability, permitting use of less material per package. The horn-to-anvil contact is through a plurality of energy directors arranged into a three-dimensional grid pattern to be capable of distributed vibration-transmissive contact. The energy directors include a series of plateau surfaces regularly spaced apart in a first direction, and in a second direction that is orthogonal to the first direction, to form the grid pattern. The energy directors of the horn are configured to interlock with the energy directors of the anvil. The rectangular-shaped plateaus are spaced apart by angled side-surfaces that form valleys. A stepped transition to a corresponding region of reduced height for the energy directors of the sonotrode and anvil may form a cosmetic seal region with a lesser integrity, in addition to the main barrier seal.

Portable Medical Device Protectors
This disclosure describes example portable medical device protectors that may be used in combination with various antimicrobial and/or antiseptic agents to reduce contaminants on a portable medical device. According to some embodiments, the disclosure describes that the protectors may comprise an impermeable container to store a permeable applicator impregnated with an antimicrobial or antiseptic agent.
COMPONENT CARRIER TAPE WITH UV RADIATION CURABLE ADHESIVE
A carrier tape for transporting a plurality of components includes a flexible substrate extending along a longitudinal axis of the carrier tape, a plurality of pockets formed in the substrate and spaced apart along the longitudinal axis of the carrier tape, and an adhesive layer. Each pocket includes a bottom wall and a side wall extending from the bottom wall to a top surface of the flexible substrate. The adhesive layer is disposed on the bottom wall of each pocket in the plurality of pockets, such that when a component is placed in a pocket in the plurality of pockets, the adhesive layer in the pocket permanently bonds to the component, and such that when the adhesive is exposed to UV radiation the adhesive bond strength is sufficiently reduced so that the component can be removed from the pocket.

Method and Apparatus for Packaging a Collective Product, and Such Packaged Product
System, hardware, and methods for agitating a package pre-form containing a charge of product elements thus to provide for product settling in the package pre-form before forming the final transverse seal. The product is caused to settle in the package pre-form by apply a plurality of rapid jerk-type acceleration forces to the packaging material, thus to cause rapid longitudinal and/or lateral acceleration in the packaging material.
