A package for contact lenses is disclosed. The package may include a body defining an inner volume and a cover extending over an opening when being closed. The package may also include at least one removable section connected between the cover and the body such that after its removal or in its absence the lid portion would be able to open and expose the inner volume of the body. The package can be reclosed by fitting at least one tab into a corresponding groove. A package with at least one attaching element for resealing the inner volume is also disclosed.

Top-opening substrate carrier

A top-opening substrate carrier comprises a container body, a door member and at least one latching mechanism. The latching mechanism includes a rotary drive member, a first driven cam, a second driven cam, a first connecting rod, a second connecting rod, two longitudinal latching arms and two lateral latching arms. The first driven cam and the second driven cam are disposed at two sides of the rotary drive member. When the rotary drive member is rotated by force, it links and activates the first connecting rod and the second connecting rod to synchronously drive the first driven cam and the second driven cam to rotate, thereby driving the two longitudinal latching arms and the two lateral latching arms to project towards locking holes of the container body and locked, or retract from the locking holes of the container body and unlocked.

Contact lens packaging and methods of manufacturing packaged contact lenses

A contact lens package includes a sealed contact lens package and a wrap coupled to the sealed contact lens package. The wrap has one or more panels. One of more of the panels includes a printed surface that includes a unique device identifier, which is provided in both human readable form that includes numbers or letters, or both, and machine readable form, such as a bar code. A method of manufacturing a contact lens package includes providing the sealed contact lens package and coupling the wrap to the sealed contact lens package.

A method of selectively controlling movement of a contact lens in blister packaging comprising a cavity, the method comprising depositing an electric charge at a location in the cavity, securing the contact lens to the blister packaging at the location with the electric charge, and after the step of securing the contact lens, injecting a lens hydrating liquid into the cavity whereby the lens is hydrated and the securing terminated. A method of selectively controlling movement of a contact lens in blister packaging comprising a cavity, the method comprising depositing a droplet of a first lens hydrating liquid in the cavity, securing the contact lens to the blister packaging with the droplet, and after the step of securing the contact lens, injecting a second lens hydrating liquid into the cavity whereby the lens is hydrated.

Packaging solutions

A packaging system for the storage of an ophthalmic device is disclosed. The packaging system includes a sealed container containing one or more unused ophthalmic devices immersed in an aqueous packaging solution that includes ectoine or an ophthalmologically acceptable ectoine derivative. The aqueous packaging solution has an osmolality of at least about 150 mOsm/kg, a pH of about 6 to about 9 and is sterilized.

Connectable contact lens packages for recycling

Contact lens packages are provided and each includes a base member having a cavity and a sealing member coupled to the base member. An unworn contact lens is provided in a packaging solution within the sealed cavity. The base member is a thermoplastic or other recyclable material. The base member includes at least one latch and at least one slot. The latch and slot are configured to connect to the slot and latch, respectively, of another base member, after the contact lenses are removed from the cavities. A recyclable thermoplastic contact lens assembly is also provided that includes empty contact lens package base members stacked and connected together. A method to recycle used contact lens package base members, such as by curbside recycling, is also provided.
