Cover for storage tanks

A system for providing a flexible cover in a storage tank is provided that reduces the amount of vapors released from a hydrocarbon liquid and other liquids and reduces the amount of product (liquid) lost to the atmosphere. The flexible cover is, in some embodiments, comprised of one or more membranes joined together along their respect perimeter edges. The membranes are made from a material or materials that allow the cover to roll up, or otherwise reduce the cross sectional diameter or area of the cover, to allow the membrane to pass through a port in a storage tank. Once inside the storage tank, the cover may return to its normal and/or predetermined dimensions to cover the upper surface of the hydrocarbon or other liquid, which reduces the release of vapors from the hydrocarbon liquid and other liquids.

Floating roof monitoring with laser distance measurement

A floating roof monitoring system and method. One or more sensors can be disposed atop a liquid storage tank having a floating roof covering liquid stored in the liquid storage tank. Each laser sensor measures the distance between the sensor and the floating roof. One or more liquid level gauges can be deployed, which measure a liquid position of the liquid stored in the liquid storage tank. A computing system communicates electronically with the laser sensor(s) and the liquid level gauge(s) to calculate the difference between the liquid position and the distance between the sensor(s) and the floating roof to determine the exact position of the floating roof and activate an alarm or force a process associated with the liquid storage tank to halt.

Cover element for forming a floating covering for a liquid tank, comprising a housing (1a, 1b) having a first longitudinal coupling profile (2) and a second longitudinal coupling profile (3), as a result of which two adjacent housings (1 a, 1 b) may be coupled to one another by means of hook hinge profiles (2a, 3a) at the bottom and top coupling profiles (2b, 3b) and a locking profile (7). The end faces of the housings (1a, 1c) are provided with a transverse coupling profile (10) which is configured to cooperate with a sliding coupling profile (9) which is slid over the transverse coupling profiles of both adjacent housings. In this configuration, the cover elements are coupled to one another by a coupling construction that does not protrude beyond the main planes (4a, 4b) of the cover elements, as a result of which the surface of the entire floating roof is smooth, resulting in a substantial reduction in the accumulation of dirt etc. on the roof due to the absence of the vertical coupling flanges.

Floating Roof for Storage Tanks

Embodiments relate generally to a floating roof for use in storage tanks. A floating roof may comprise a plurality of pontoons arranged to form the floating roof. The pontoons may each comprise a lower panel, a plurality of outer walls disposed at the edges of the lower panel, and a plurality of stiffeners disposed adjacent the lower panel. Attachment points attached to the floating roof, wherein the attachment points are configured to couple the floating roof to a storage tank.
