The present application provides a container that includes: a first layer of sheet material forming the first side of the container and at least a second and third layer of sheet material forming the second side of the container, a pair of closure strips extending along the opening of the container, each of the closure strips having at least one of a male and a female linear interlocking strip. A first of the pair of closure strips includes: an extension above and an extension below the respective linear interlocking strip, and a second of the pair of closure strips comprising an extension below the respective linear interlocking strip. The linear interlocking strips configured to be released from each other by pulling the extensions below the linear interlocking strips apart using a pair of flaps extending from the closure strip extensions.

A package is provided to make it more resistant to access by individuals, such as small children, while remaining simple enough for an adult to open. A feature, such as a top gusset or a breachable flange or flap, can be provided to promote the child resistance attributes of the package.

A reclosable zipper pouch includes a flange in covering relation to a portion of a first wall panel extending between a first zipper profile member and a mouth, when viewed from the open mouth, to provide difficulty to a child to open the pouch, and remain easy for an adult or senior citizen to open the pouch.

The package cannot be crushed or perforated by a child, and is provided with opening means which physically hinder children from opening the package. A recloseable zipper pouch includes a recloseable zipper with interlocking profiles. At least one of the profiles has a grasping flange with a free end positionable both above and below the interlocking profile, and an attachment flange below the interlocking profile and attached to the wall of the pouch at an anchored portion on the attachment flange. The grasping flange is unattached to the first wall between opposite sidewall edges of the pouch. The complementary interlocking profile is attached to the opposite pouch wall. Some pouches can also include an opening in a side wall of the pouch to provide access to a portion of the grasping flange.

A resealable bag is provided. The bag may include a resealable closure configured to make it difficult for a child to open the bag. The resealable closure may be disposed on a pair of flanges attached to an interior of the bag. In some embodiments, a user may need to grasp the flanges near the resealable closure in order to open the bag. This may provide a user an advantage when trying to prevent children from accessing the contents of the bag.

The present disclosure relates to plastic or polymeric container with reclosable zippers which make the package child-resistant. In one typical embodiment, this is achieved by a zipper with a high internal opening force and a low external opening force, wherein three flanges are sealed to the bag walls, and one external flange is left unsealed. In order to encounter the low external opening force, the user must grab the unsealed external flange while applying an external opening force to the zipper.

A package made from sheet material has a sealable coating on a first surface. The package has a plurality of panels, folded so that at least two side panels are able to be closed in an overlapping arrangement so that the two side panels are sealed together with the first surface and sealable coating in facing relationship.
