A door for a smart shipping container includes a door that has an outside skin strengthened by at least one hollow support beam defining an interior channel thereof. The door also includes embedded computing system disposed within the interior channel of the hollow support beam of the door. The embedded computing system includes a power source, memory, at least one processor, communications circuitry, an antenna and one or more sensors. Optionally, a window is defined in the hollow support beam so as to permit access by the antenna to an exterior of the door. For example, the window can be a three-sided window so as to permit access by the antenna to the exterior of the door irrespective of an opened or closed position of the door.

The system's sensor-based node has a processor, memory (maintaining a battery monitoring program code and a battery threshold metric value), a wireless communication interface and a sensor operative to sense a battery status condition for the battery. When executing the battery monitoring program code, the processor is programmatically configured and adapted to be operative to receive status data from the sensor reflecting the battery status condition as sensed by the sensor, automatically trigger generation of a layered alert notification related to the battery when the received status data is inconsistent with the battery threshold metric value, and cause the wireless communication interface to broadcast the layered alert notification to initiate a mediation response related to the battery status condition for the battery.

An improved system on a transit vehicle is described for coordinated mediation action in response to an identified environmental anomaly on a shipping container transported by the vehicle. The system has wirelessly broadcasting ID nodes at different locations within the container, and a fire suppression system on the vehicle having a wireless transceiver-based controller operating as a master node that can cause the suppression system to deliver fire suppressant material to the container using a delivery nozzle and pump. The controller, as master node, is configured to operate as a primary monitor for the anomaly by being operative to monitor ID node signals; identify the anomaly based on the signals; generate a layered alert notification related to the anomaly (identifying a targeted mediation action and establishes a mediation response priority); and initiate a mediation response by the suppression system related to the targeted mediation action and the mediation response priority.
Dynamically transitioning system for monitoring a shipping container for an environmental anomaly related to the shipping container
A dynamically transitioning system for monitoring a shipping container transported by a transit vehicle for an environmental anomaly has ID nodes within the container (at least some being associated with objects being transported), a command node on the container, and an external master node at a known location on the vehicle. The command node operates as a primary monitor for the anomaly by monitoring signal activity from the ID nodes; identifying the anomaly based upon the signal activity; generating a layered alert notification that identifies a targeted mediation recipient and mediation action, and establishes a mediation response priority; and transmits the notification to an external transceiver on the transit vehicle to initiate a mediation response for the mediation action. The command node dynamically instructs the external master node to temporarily operate as the primary monitor when the command node is within a threshold distance from the external master node's location.
Container and method for the operation thereof
A container for transporting flowable filling material includes a tank with a gas connection to which a protective gas line can be connected. A sensor device including an adapter element and a telemetry module is connected to the gas connection of the tank by the adapter device. The adapter element has a gas connection piece and a medium channel. A protective gas line can be connected to the gas connection piece of the adapter when the adapter is connected to the gas connection of the tank so that a protective gas can be guided through the gas connection piece and the medium channel of the adapter and into an interior of the tank. The telemetry module has a sensor that senses data relating to a state parameter of the container and/or filling material and a transmitter for wirelessly transmitting the data.

Systems and methods are described for monitoring, detecting, and initiating a response to an environmental anomaly within a shipping container of packages involves sensor-based ID nodes, a command node and an external transceiver on a transit vehicle. Each ID node generates and broadcasts sensor data on environmental conditions proximate the respective ID node within the shipping container. The command node detects the sensor data from each ID node and compares it with locally maintained context data (an environmental threshold condition) for that ID node to detect the environmental anomaly when sensor data exceeds a respective threshold condition. The command node then generates a layered alert notification related to the environmental anomaly identifying a targeted mediation recipient and targeted mediation action, and establishing a mediation response priority. The command node initiates a mediation response related to the targeted mediation action by transmitting the layered alert notification transmitted to the external transceiver.

Methods, apparatus, and systems are described for generating a content related notification based upon managed logistics information related to a container using a container interface display apparatus. Such a container interface display apparatus records an update to the managed logistics information maintained in a memory of the container interface display apparatus and then accesses at least a portion of the managed logistics information maintained in the memory after recording the update. The container interface display apparatus then detects a notification event based upon the accessed portion of the managed logistics information. Such notification event is related to status information associated with the container or an item stored within the container. The container interface display apparatus then generates the content related notification related the notification event and dynamically displays information related to the content related notification on a display screen of the container interface display apparatus.
Apparatus and systems for detecting an environmental anomaly related to a shipping container using a package command node
A package command node detects an environmental anomaly related to a shipment package for transport within a shipping container on a transit vehicle having an external transceiver. The package command node has a command node housing disposed with the package, a processor within the housing, a memory maintaining package command node environmental detection program code, and a wireless transceiver communication interface that communicates with sensor-based ID nodes generating sensor data from different parts of the container. The package command node's processor is programmatically configured to detect the ID node sensor data; identify the anomaly when the detected sensor data indicates an environmental condition that exceeds an environmental threshold; generate an alert notification related to the anomaly; and transmit the alert notification to the external transceiver to initiate a mediation response related to the environmental anomaly.
Systems and apparatus for enhanced detection of an environmental anomaly related to a shipping container using a node-enhanced detection blanket
A blanket apparatus is described for enhanced detecting of an environmental anomaly relative to a shipping container temporarily maintaining packages. Generally, the apparatus includes a detection blanket disposed proximate the packages and multiple sensor-based ID nodes integrated as part of the detection blanket in a geographically disperse configuration relative to the detection blanket. Each of the sensor-based ID nodes has a processor, memory (with ID node monitoring program code), an environmental sensor, and a wireless radio transceiver. The sensor generates sensor data related to an environmental condition adjacent the sensor and indicative of the environmental anomaly when the sensor data generated is above a threshold condition for that sensor. The transceiver is configured to access and broadcast the sensor data generated in response to a report command from the ID node's processor when the ID node processor executes the ID node monitoring program code.
