WASTE CONTAINER WITH IMPROVED LOWER GRAB BAR

The specification discloses a waste container including a lower grab bar having a self-adjusting length to accommodate flexure of the container and to ease installation of the grab bar in the container. The grab bar includes an outer tube, a plunger slidably received within the outer tube, and a spring within the tube. The spring biases the plunger outwardly with respect to the tube, so that the grab bar has a compressed position and an uncompressed/expanded position.

A waste container includes a floor, a first side wall, a second side wall, a back wall, a front wall, a first door, and a second door. The first and second side walls are spaced apart from each other. The back wall extends between the first side wall and the second side wall. The front wall extends from the first side wall toward the second side wall such that a gap is defined between the front wall and the second side wall. The first door and the second door are each movable between an open position and a closed position. The first door in the closed position extends between the front wall and the second side wall so all the gap is blocked. The second door in the closed position extends between the front wall and the second side wall so only a portion of the gap is blocked.

A portable container base for use with a powered lifting device is provided. The portable container base includes a main body to secure a bottom surface of a container such as a trash can, a plurality of wheels on a lower surface of the main body, each providing independent rotation for moving the main body and container across a surface, and a loading tube on a lower surface of the main body to slidably receive a loading spike of a lifting device, transfer a lifting force from the loading spike to the main body for lifting the container, and restrict movement of the main body around the loading spike during lifting by an interference fit between a circumferential shape of the loading tube and the loading spike, such that a drive mechanism can lift and tilt the container to easily transfer contents from the lifted container to a receiving container.
