Refuse collection system

The technology relates to a refuse collection system including: a camera configured to capture image data; a sensor configured to capture spatial data; and a processing module in communication with the camera and the sensor, the processing module configured to: process the image data to assist in identifying an object; and process the spatial data in a region associated with the object in order to determine one or more characteristics associated therewith, wherein in response to confirming that the object is a bin based on the one or more characteristics associated with the object, the processing module is configured to provide information to assist in retrieving the bin with a bin-collecting device.

DEVICE FOR MANUALLY COMPACTING WASTE
20170362027 · 2017-12-21 ·

The invention relates to a device for manually compacting waste contained in a container, including a frame having a support plate that is intended to be positioned and/or fastened to the ground, and two lateral uprights, a left-hand lateral upright and a right-hand lateral upright, respectively, that are secured to the support plate and extend perpendicularly thereto, with the support plate and the lateral uprights delimiting a central space that is able to receive a container containing waste. The device also includes two manually actuable levers, namely a left-hand lever fastened to the left-hand lateral upright so as to pivot about a left-hand pivot axis and a right-hand lever fastened to the right-hand lateral upright so as to pivot about a right-hand pivot axis, with the left-hand and right-hand pivot axes being parallel and defining a plane parallel to a plane defined by the support plate. The device further includes at least one push bar, at the lower end of which a compression plate is fastened, with the push bar being connected to the left-hand lever and/or the right-hand lever by way of at least one connecting member that is able to slide along the left-hand lever and/or right-hand lever and which is configured to act on the push bar under the action of the left-hand lever and/or right-hand lever so as to move it towards the ground or away from the ground, thus making it possible to move the compression plate towards or away from the support plate from an equilibrium position in which it rests on the waste to be compacted.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RECYCLING THIN-SECTION MATERIALS
20170362028 · 2017-12-21 · ·

Specially-designed rack and plastic bag, and methods of use. The bag is mounted on the rack with a lower portion of the bag disposed inwardly and downwardly of the top of the rack, and an upper portion of the bag disposed outwardly and downwardly of the top of the rack. Workers place thin-section waste material into the bag. When the bag is full, the bag is replaced with an empty bag. The bag has holes, which enable air to escape through bag side walls while the bag is being compressed in a baler. Because air escapes through the side walls, more of the air can be removed for a given baler compaction force thereby the resulting bale weighs about 10% to about 25%, or greater, more than a bale made with the same materials and the same baler conditions, without use of the rack and bags of the invention.
