OCCLUSAL BLOCK DESIGN FOR LATERAL LOCKING

A first appliance and a second appliance comprise engagement surfaces that provide mandibular relocation forces and forces to limit lateral movement of the jaw, such as opposing inclined surfaces on opposite sides of the mouth. In some embodiments, engagement surfaces between oral appliances comprise a curvature difference, which allows engagement at differing angles and positions.

An oral therapy apparatus is disclosed and configured for being positionable within a mouth of a user having orthodontic braces. In at least one embodiment, the apparatus provides a flexible, substantially cylindrical, elongated body sized and configured for being positioned within the user's mouth, substantially between gums of the user and an inner surface of the user's mouth. The body has a diameter sized for creating a space between the inner surface of the user's mouth and the braces, thereby preventing the inner surface of the user's mouth from coming into contact with the braces.

An oral training appliance for training the tongue and lips of a person is disclosed. The appliance comprises a U shaped body comprising a front section and two arms, an inner wall and an outer wall. A tongue training member extends from the inner wall and is moveable in response to movement by the user's tongue from a rest configuration to a training configuration. The appliance also comprises a lip training member and is moveable in response to movement of a user's lower lip from a rest configuration to a training configuration and the lip training member is biased towards the rest configuration.

Apparatus and method for reducing bruxism and occlusal forces

An oral orthotic device includes a body having a left portion including an upper surface and a right portion including an upper surface. The upper surface of the left portion and the upper surface of the right portion define a plane positioned to extend above an irregular surface defined by teeth of a user. A bite block extends from the upper surface of one of the left portion or the right portion a distance above the plane such that the bite block is disposed on the oral orthotic device exclusively on either the left portion or the right portion. One or more springs extend from the body and are configured to buffer the body from the teeth of the user. A lingual portion is coupled to the left portion of the body and to the right portion of the body. The lingual portion encloses a helical wire.

ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCE WITH ALIGNER AND ATTACHMENT
20220370171 · 2022-11-24 ·

An orthodontic appliance for repositioning a tooth of a dental patient includes: (a) an attachment dimensioned for being attached to the tooth; and (b) an aligner having a cutout therein defining a cutout edge, the cutout edge defining a projection dimensioned to resiliently engage the attachment during installation of the aligner such that the projection inhibits dislocation of the aligner after the aligner has been installed.

The installed aligner may impart a force on the tooth via the attachment by contacting at least a portion of the cutout edge. A slot between a beveled base and overhang of the attachment guides the projection during aligner installation. Opposing projections form a passage therethrough. The attachment body in cross-section may be diamond-shaped. More than one attachment may be employed for a given cutout. The aligner may have a secondary cutout or window dimensioned to not engage with any attachment.

Intraoral device with a pair of articulated dental aligners
11589959 · 2023-02-28 · ·

An intraoral device (1) with a pair of dental aligners (10), each aligner having an outer shell (100) of rigid plastic in the shape of a rounded V defining branches joined at the front part (10a) of the outer shell. The front part has a truncated part in the form of an elongate notch (104), which confers flexibility on the outer shell in a plane orthogonal to the median sagittal plane of the aligners by bringing together or spacing apart the branches of the V. The outer shell includes an impression (106) formed in the front part on the outer face of the outer shell and extending on either side of the elongate notch. The notch cooperates with an attached wedge (50) which serves as a mechanical abutment for blocking flexion of the outer shell at a given curvature when the attached wedge (50) is fixed in the impression (106).
