Screw-retained abutment with off-axis feature and methods of making and using same

An abutment is provided with a screw access hole and a slot in its sidewall adapted to allow a driver to access a screw in the screw access hole at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the screw. The abutment may include a screw seat and may be connected to an implant via a screw in the screw seat. A prosthesis, which may include a driver access channel that has a diameter less than the outer diameter of the drive portion of the screw, may be placed over the abutment. Methods of making a dental prosthesis and methods of attaching and removing the dental prosthesis from the implant are also disclosed.

Method of designing and fabricating patient-specific restorations from intra-oral scanning of a digital impression coping

Taking a digital implant or abutment level digital impression by means of intra-oral, computed tomography or other imaging method provides the restorative doctor and laboratory accurate and effective data for determining the implant position, angulation and locking feature orientation without a physical impression. Such data is correlated with a digital library to produce an output which enables design and fabrication of an accurate restorative device such as a prosthetic tooth or crown. In this way the time-consuming, costly and error prone mechanical replication of the relevant dental anatomy is obviated.

A method and system are provided for manufacturing a physical dental model. A virtual model is provided representative of at least a portion of the intra-oral cavity including at least one dental implant implanted therein, and the virtual model includes a virtual portion representative of each dental implant. The virtual spatial disposition of each such virtual portion is determined with respect to the virtual model, corresponding to a real spatial disposition of the respective implant with respect to the intra oral cavity. A physical model is then manufactured based on the virtual model, the physical model including a physical analog corresponding to each implant at a respective physical spatial disposition with respect to the physical model corresponding to the respective virtual spatial disposition of the respective virtual portion with respect to the first virtual model as already determined. In some embodiments, a jig is provided configured for maintaining a desired physical spatial disposition between the physical analog and a cavity of the physical dental model at least until the physical analog is affixed in the cavity.

HEALING ABUTMENT SYSTEM FOR CONFIGURING CROWN ABUTMENTS AT AN IMPLANT SITE

A system and method for manufacturing a physical model of a dental structure wherein the physical model is configured to allow a dental analog to be inserted into the physical model. A virtual model of the dental structure is provided including a virtual implant spatial disposition with respect to the virtual model corresponding to a physical implant spatial disposition of the dental implant. Using the virtual model, a physical model corresponding to the virtual model is manufactured, the physical model being provided with a physical analog corresponding to the virtual analog. The physical analog installation structure is configured for enabling a dental analog, corresponding to the dental implant, to be inserted. In the installed position, the dental analog has an analog spatial disposition with respect to the physical model corresponding to the physical disposition of the dental implant with respect to the physical dental structure.

TEMPORARY ABUTMENT WITH COMBINATION OF SCANNING FEATURES AND PROVISIONALIZATION FEATURES

A lower region of a temporary abutment includes an anti-rotational feature for non-rotationally mating with a dental implant. An upper region of the temporary abutment includes a first anti-rotational structure and at least one retention groove. A top surface of the temporary abutment includes one or more informational markers that provide information concerning the dental implant. A temporary abutment cap is configured to be coupled to the upper region of the temporary abutment. The temporary abutment cap has at least one projection configured to mate with the at least one retention groove of the temporary abutment. The temporary abutment cap has a second anti-rotational structure that is configured to slidably engage the first anti-rotational structure of the temporary abutment. The temporary abutment cap is configured to be coupled with a temporary prosthesis such that the temporary prosthesis and the temporary abutment cap are removable from the temporary abutment.

The invention relates to an intraoral scanning device for digitally recording the position of a dental implant by means of a scanner. The device is in the form of a scanning body or pillar used to transfer virtually to CAD software the position and orientation of a dental implant or similar element, mainly by mounting the scanning body or pillar directly on the dental implant located in the mouth of the patient in a clinic and scanning the implant with an intraoral scanner. It is also possible to use the intraoral scanning pillar system in a laboratory and with a conventional desktop scanner.
