A dental implant includes an implant body with a coronally open cavity as well as at least one exit opening from an inside to the enossal outer surface. A thermoplastic element in the solid condition is arranged in the cavity or is introducible into the cavity and can be brought into an at least partly flowable condition by way of applying a pressing force, which is directed apically into the cavity, and mechanical oscillations and in this condition at least a share of the flowable material of the thermoplastic element can be pressed through the at least one exit opening into surrounding bone tissue on account of the pressing force, when the implant body is arranged in an opening in the bone tissue and the enossal outer surface is in contact with the bone tissue.

An implant (1) is designed to be fitted in a hole (2a) formed in jaw bone (2) and soft tissue (3). The implant comprises a portion (4b) to be placed against the upper edge of the jaw bone. Along most of its peripheral extent, the portion (4b) is provided with groves (9, 9) or recesses designed to stimulate bone movement and ingrowth (10) of bone. The bone ingrowth (10) forms a barrier against substantial or visible subsidence, around the portion, of the bone (2) with overlying soft tissue (3). The invention permits a good esthetic result and prevents bacteria from penetrating into the internal parts of the implant and of the hole.

DENTAL IMPLANT

A dental implant including a core; at least one screw thread; a first and second region; a central axis; the surface of the core defining an angle with the central axis in the first region and with the central axis in the second region; and the surface of the screw thread defining an angle with the central axis in the first region and with the central axis in the second region. The diameter of the core decreases at a rate in the first region towards the apical end such that the core defining angle is greater than the screw thread defining angle, and the diameter of the core decreases at a rate in the second region towards the apical end such that the core defining angle is the same as the screw thread defining angle. Furthermore, an implant including at least one helical chamber including a depth and length.

Medical implant and method of implantation

A medical implant and a method of implanting a medical implant are disclosed. In some embodiments, the medical implant can include an apical bone anchoring portion for bone apposition and an unthreaded coronal portion. The coronal portion can have a length (L.sub.2) exceeding or equaling a length (L.sub.1) of the apical portion. Further, in some embodiments, the apical portion has a maximum outer diameter (D.sub.1) that is equal to or larger than a maximum outer diameter (D.sub.2) of the coronal portion. In some embodiments of the method, an apical part of an implant is affixed in the zygomatic bone and a coronal part is positioned outside the maxilla in the mucous membrane.

Disclosed are a fixture for a dental implant and an implant system comprising the same. The implant system of the present inventive concept comprises: a first fixture having a first body part and a first continuous screw part which is formed in a spiral around the outer circumferential surface of the first body part and is formed continuously without a break; and a second fixture having a second body part that is identical to the first body part, and a second continuous screw part which is formed in a spiral around the outer circumferential surface of the second body part and which has an outer diameter that differs from that of the first continuous screw part. The present inventive concept allows implant operations to be carried out in a more straightforward fashion than hitherto since, even if initial fixture placement fails, a subsequent fixture can be placed straight away without any further drilling work.
