A transport device and a transport method is provided for a container treatment plant. The transport device comprises at least one transporter for transporting containers to or away from a treatment station of the container treatment plant, wherein at least one transporter is positioned displaceable in relation to another one of the transporters to provide a closeable spatial separation between the at least one displaceable transporter and the other transporter.

STORAGE SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A storage system is disclosed which includes a series of fire detection, suppression and extinguishing capability. The system can include containers formed as structural composites. The containers can have multiple portions of a structural or storage nature. The system can use the containers and the system itself to reduce a likelihood of fire spreading through large grid based systems.

An internally cooled strand guide roller (1) is mounted at more than one location. The height of the strand guide roller (1) is intended to be adjustable easily and quickly. The strand guide roller (1) has a collecting bar (7) for supplying the strand guide roller (1) with cooling water. The collecting bar (7) includes a plurality of brackets (10, 10a, 10b). Between two successive brackets (10, 10a, 10b), there is at least one coolant pipe (11) for fluidically connecting the brackets (10, 10a, 10b). An outer bracket (10a) has at least one first connection (8) for internal cooling of the cooled strand guide roller (1) and at least one second connection (9) for cooling the bearing blocks (4). The first connection (8) is fluidically connected to the ducts (3) of the individual rollers (2a, 2b) and the second connection (9) is fluidically connected to the bearing blocks (4) via the brackets (10).

An automated grid based storage and retrieval system includes a storage grid and a plurality of storage containers for storing product items therein. In the storage grid, the storage containers are stacked vertically in stacks arranged beneath openings of a grid-based rail system to provide storage columns of a storage volume. The storage volume includes a flow path extending through a plurality of the stacks. The flow path is formed by spacers positioned within the stacks. The spacers are configured to allow a fluid to flow through the spacer. Each spacer is stacked at a predetermined level between storage containers in a stack and adjacent another of the spacers in a neighboring stack to provide adjacent sections of the flow path.

A vehicle for use with an object handling system, the object handling system including two substantially perpendicular sets of rails forming a first grid, a plurality of first uprights supporting the first grid, a plurality of containers arranged in stacks, each stack being located underneath the first grid, one or more robotic load handling devices configured to drive on top of the rails of the first grid, the one or more load handling devices including means for removing or replacing at least one container from the stacks. The vehicle includes two substantially perpendicular sets of rails forming a second grid substantially at the top of the vehicle above a storage space for carrying containers. The second grid interfaces with the first grid to allow the one or more load handling devices to drive from the rails of the first grid onto the rails of the second grid.
