An image forming apparatus includes a first supporting member supporting a long sheet, a feeding unit for feeding the long sheet supported by the first supporting member with respect to a feeding direction and a second supporting member, rotatable about a rotational shaft, for supporting the long sheet with the first supporting member. In a state in which the sheet is bent so that a first portion of the long sheet is supported by the first supporting member and a second portion which is a more rear side than the first portion is positioned above the first portion, the second supporting member is movable between a first position where the second supporting member supports the second portion of the sheet and a second position where the center of gravity of the second supporting member is positioned downstream of a rotational center with respect to the feeding direction and the second supporting member maintains an attitude thereof by its own weight.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes a regulator to regulate a position of leading edges of first and second sheets supported on a sheet support. A drive transmission drives a return for returning the second sheet toward the sheet support and the regulator by a driving force, wherein the return includes a first cam follower, a first pivot shaft, and a claw supported pivotably around the first pivot shaft. The drive transmission includes a first cam to drive the return by engaging with the first cam follower and rotating, and the regulator includes a second pivot shaft that is parallel to the first pivot shaft. The regulating member includes the regulating surface and is arranged such that at least a portion of the regulating member is overlapped with the claw in an axial direction of the second pivot shaft.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes a regulator to regulate a position of leading edges of first and second sheets supported on a sheet support. A drive transmission drives a return for returning the second sheet toward the sheet support and the regulator by a driving force, wherein the return includes a first cam follower, a first pivot shaft, and a claw supported pivotably around the first pivot shaft. The drive transmission includes a first cam to drive the return by engaging with the first cam follower and rotating, and the regulator includes a second pivot shaft that is parallel to the first pivot shaft. The regulating member includes the regulating surface and is arranged such that at least a portion of the regulating member is overlapped with the claw in an axial direction of the second pivot shaft.

An automatic document feeder includes a media path to route media through the automatic document feeder, at least one media tray to one of supply the media to the media path and receive the media from the media path, and an automated media tray extender at an end of the media tray, the automated media tray extender to be positioned based on a presence of the media in the media tray.

An automatic document feeder includes a media path to route media through the automatic document feeder, at least one media tray to one of supply the media to the media path and receive the media from the media path, and an automated media tray extender at an end of the media tray, the automated media tray extender to be positioned based on a presence of the media in the media tray.

A peripheral capable of sensing a media count includes a body, a stopper, a supply tray and a sensor assembly. The stopper is installed in the body. The supply tray accommodated within the body includes a base and a frame. The frame elastically and pivotally connected to the base supports media and pushes the media in a direction toward the stopper so that the media contacts the stopper. The sensor assembly installed in the body detects a position state of the frame to obtain a sensing signal corresponding to the number of the media.

A peripheral capable of sensing a media count includes a body, a stopper, a supply tray and a sensor assembly. The stopper is installed in the body. The supply tray accommodated within the body includes a base and a frame. The frame elastically and pivotally connected to the base supports media and pushes the media in a direction toward the stopper so that the media contacts the stopper. A sheet accommodating apparatus includes an apparatus body, a first cassette to be drawn out in a draw-out direction with respect to the apparatus body, a second cassette disposed adjacent to the first cassette in a vertical direction, a holder member attached to the apparatus body, and a first light emitting member and a second light emitting member that are supported by the holder member. The first cassette includes a first accommodating container and a first cover. The second cassette includes a second accommodating container and a second cover. The first cover has a first hole in a position opposing the first light emitting member such that the light emitted from the first light emitting member passes therethrough. The second cover has a second hole provided in a position opposing the second light emitting member such that the light emitted from the second light emitting member passes therethrough.

A feeder of a sheet treating or a sheet processing machine comprises a sensor system, which sensor system, on a front side pointing in a direction of transport of the sheets to be fed or on the opposing, rear side of the pile of sheets to be fed, comprises one or more sensors, by the use of which sensors, a distance, with respect to at least two locations, which are spaced apart from one another transversely to the transport direction, at the relevant front or rear sides of the pile, can be ascertained. A method is provided for detecting or correcting sheets having deviated positions or dimensions in such a sheet feeder of a sheet treating or processing machine.
