The printing apparatus includes a speed reducer (72) that switches the speed of the feeder unit (2) between single-sided printing and double-sided printing. In single-sided printing, the feeder unit (2) is driven at a first supply speed at which the sheets (4) are supplied to the printing cylinder (14) one by one continuously, and the printing cylinder (14) is driven at a transfer speed at which the sheets (4) supplied from the feeder unit (2) one by one continuously are transferred. In double-sided printing, the printing cylinder (14) is driven at the transfer speed, and the feeder unit (2) is driven at a second supply speed that is the first supply speed. The printing apparatus that operates stably in both single-sided printing and double-sided printing can be provided.

PAPER FEEDING DEVICE, IMAGE FORMING DEVICE, AND ELECTRODE FEEDING DEVICE

A paper feeding device has a paper feed tray, a device body, a fan, a rectifying member, and a retreat mechanism. A paper bundle in which a plurality of sheets of paper are stacked can be placed on the paper feed tray. The rectifying member is positioned above the paper bundle placed on the paper feed tray in a state in which the paper feed tray is accommodated in an accommodating part of the device body. The rectifying member generates a negative pressure between the rectifying member and an uppermost sheet of paper of the paper bundle using airflow from the fan in a state in which the paper feed tray is accommodated in the accommodating part. The retreat mechanism displaces the rectifying member in conjunction with the paper feed tray so that the rectifying member retreats from the paper feed tray in at least one of a pull-out operation and a push-in operation of the paper feed tray.

The carry-down rollers are opposed to and spaced from the carry-down cams, providing a nip having a nip distance therebetween. At least one biasing element biases the carry-down roller shaft toward the nip. The inserts are moved through the nip individually. A thickness tuning adjustment assembly moves the carry-down roller assembly to adjust the nip distance. A vacuum assembly is in communication with a movable sucker assembly that has sucker ports being movable toward and away from the nip.
