SHEET PROCESSING DEVICE
A sheet processing device in an embodiment includes a processing section, a tray, a lifting and lowering device, a flexible member, a first member, and a second member. The processing section processes a sheet. The sheet can be placed on a first surface on a first side of the tray. The lifting and lowering device moves the sheet to the processing section. The flexible member is provided on the first side of the tray and has flexibility. The first member is connected to a first end portion of the flexible member. The second member is connected to a second end portion opposite to the first end portion of the flexible member. The second member is separated from the first member in a first direction. A separation distance between the second member and the first member is shorter than length of the flexible member between the second member and the first member.

Sheet discharging apparatus, sheet feeding apparatus and image forming apparatus
A sheet discharging apparatus includes an apparatus body, a sheet discharge member provided in the apparatus body, and a movable tray including a sheet supporting surface. A movable member in the movable tray is moved by being pressed by the sheet supported on the sheet supporting surface, and a detecting portion detects a presence of the sheet supported on the sheet supporting surface in response to a position of the movable member. The movable member includes an extension portion extending out of the movable tray toward the apparatus body, and the apparatus body is provided with an opening portion through which the extension portion extends. The opening portion is formed such that the extension portion is movable along a moving direction of the movable tray within the apparatus body, and the detecting portion detects a position of the movable member by detecting the extension portion.

Sheet-transporting element with integrated blocking slider for suction openings
A sheet-transporting element includes suction openings for holding print sheets, longitudinal sliders including air passages, and transverse sliders including air passages. The longitudinal sliders and the transverse sliders are disposed in a cross-wise configuration and are movable into different positions corresponding to various sheet formats in the positions blocking selected ones of the suction openings.

SHEET FEEDING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS INCORPORATING THE SAME
A sheet feeding device includes a sheet feed tray, a conveying roller pair, and a contact-and-separation mechanism. The sheet feed tray is detachably attached to a body of an image forming apparatus. The conveying roller pair is disposed in the body of the image forming apparatus, conveys a sheet fed from the sheet feed tray attached to the body of the image forming apparatus, and includes a driving roller and a driven roller. The driving roller is rotated by a drive mechanism. The driven roller is rotated by the driving roller. The contact-and-separation mechanism separates the driven roller from the driving roller in conjunction with detachment of the sheet feed tray from the body of the image forming apparatus and brings the driven roller into contact with the driving roller by the drive mechanism when the sheet feed tray is detached from the body of the image forming apparatus.

Contact-and-separation system, image forming apparatus, and contact-and-separation method
A contact-and-separation system includes a first roller, a second roller, and a contact-and-separation device. The first roller contacts a belt. The second roller is opposed to the first roller. The contact-and-separation device contacts or separates the belt to or from the second roller via a sheet conveyed. The contact-and-separation device includes an eccentric cam, a motor, and a circuitry. The eccentric cam is mounted on an end of a rotation shaft of the first roller. The motor rotates the eccentric cam. The circuitry controls the motor to rotate the eccentric cam to contact or separate the belt to or from the second roller via the sheet conveyed. The circuitry controls the motor to decelerate a rotation speed of the motor on contact or separation of the belt to or from the second roller between the first roller and the second roller.
Sheet conveyance device and image forming apparatus including the same
A sheet conveyance device includes a pair of separable contact rollers configured to convey a sheet, a contact/separation mechanism configured to support the pair of separable contact rollers in such a manner that the pair of separable contact rollers are able to come into separable contact with each other, and a solenoid configured to operate the contact/separation mechanism. The solenoid is driven so that the contact/separation mechanism causes the pair of separable contact rollers to come into pressure contact with each other, and driving of the solenoid is cancelled so that the contact/separation mechanism causes the pair of separable contact rollers to be separated from each other. Pulse width modulation duty control is performed on the solenoid while the pair of separable contact rollers are in pressure contact with each other when a plurality of the sheets are conveyed one by one at an interval.
