There is provided a transport device which transports a web-shaped substrate from a first atmosphere of a first atmosphere temperature to a second atmosphere of a second atmosphere temperature different from the first atmosphere temperature along a transport path, the transport device including a plurality of pass rollers that are disposed in the transport path and that each support the substrate, and a plurality of heaters that heat the plurality of pass rollers respectively. The plurality of heaters perform heating such that the closer a pass roller is to an upstream side of the transport path, the closer a temperature to which the pass roller is heated is to the first atmosphere temperature and the closer a pass roller is to a downstream side of the transport path, the closer a temperature to which the pass roller is heated is to the second atmosphere temperature.

As a process of removing the medium, the first driver circuit starts rotation operation after the second driver circuit starts driving the downstream conveyor and rotates the rotators for not less than a period of time for the medium to be conveyed from the first position to the second position. The second driver circuit continues driving the downstream conveyor for not less than a period of time for the medium to be conveyed from the second position to a position at which the medium is detected after the rotation operation of the first driver circuit is stopped.

A sheet separation device separates a non-bonding portion of a two-ply sheet in which two sheets are overlapped and bonded together at a bonding portion of the two-ply sheet. The sheet separation device includes a winding roller and a gripper. The winding roller rotates and winds the two-ply sheet to separate the two-ply sheet. The gripper is disposed in the winding roller and configured to grip a gripped portion of the two-ply sheet at one end of the two-ply sheet without abutting a tip of the gripped portion at the one end of the two-ply sheet on a member.

When the controller judges that the rear end does not cross the kicking region, the controller adjusts a feeding amount for at least one of a plurality of transport operations to be performed until the rear end reaches the kicking region in such a manner that the rear end of the medium crosses the kicking region.

Each projection 16 of the plurality of projections 16 is shaped such that a position X of a distal-end part preceding in an opposite direction to a paper feeding direction precedes, in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction, a position Y of a base-end part preceding in the opposite direction to the paper feeding direction.
