A medium transport apparatus includes: a medium mounting section configured to mount a medium; a feed roller configured to feed the medium from the medium mounting section; a separation roller configured to nip and separate the medium from the feed roller; a plurality of sensors disposed at positions facing a surface of the medium and configured to detect movement of the medium; and a control unit configured to stop feeding of the medium based on detection values received from the sensors, wherein the plurality of sensors are disposed upstream of a nipping position by the feed roller and the separation roller with a gap in a width direction being a direction intersecting a medium feed direction and detect movement of the medium in the width direction.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes an endless attraction member (200) attracting a sheet and rotating, and the attraction member (200) includes a plurality of electrode pattern areas. Each of the electrode pattern areas includes first and second electrodes (510 and 511) supplied the voltages from a power feed portion respectively. The electrode pattern areas are arrayed in the circumferential direction in such a manner that the electrode pattern areas are electrically insulated each other, and each circumferential direction length of the electrode pattern areas is set shorter than a circumferential direction length, between the power feed portion and the discharge portion, of the attraction member.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes an endless attraction member (200) attracting a sheet and rotating, and the attraction member (200) includes a plurality of electrode pattern areas. Each of the electrode pattern areas includes first and second electrodes (510 and 511) supplied the voltages from a power feed portion respectively. The electrode pattern areas are arrayed in the circumferential direction in such a manner that the electrode pattern areas are electrically insulated each other, and each circumferential direction length of the electrode pattern areas is set shorter than a circumferential direction length, between the power feed portion and the discharge portion, of the attraction member.

A paper jam indication detection device is a paper jam indication detection device that detects an indication that a paper jam will occur in a paper feed device, the paper jam indication detection device including: a sound collector that collects a friction sound produced by friction between a plurality of sheets of paper when the paper is fed from a holder holding the plurality of sheets of the paper; an indication detector that detects an indication that a paper jam will occur in the paper feed device based on a decrease in the friction sound collected by the sound collector; and a signal outputter that, when the indication is detected by the indication detector, outputs, to the paper feed device, a signal for stopping the paper from being fed from the holder.

A paper jam indication detection device is a paper jam indication detection device that detects an indication that a paper jam will occur in a paper feed device, the paper jam indication detection device including: a sound collector that collects a friction sound produced by friction between a plurality of sheets of paper when the paper is fed from a holder holding the plurality of sheets of the paper; an indication detector that detects an indication that a paper jam will occur in the paper feed device based on a decrease in the friction sound collected by the sound collector; and a signal outputter that, when the indication is detected by the indication detector, outputs, to the paper feed device, a signal for stopping the paper from being fed from the holder.

A sheet feeding apparatus is provided with a pick-up roller that contacts sheets loaded on a load tray to pick up, a paper feed roller that feeds a picked-up sheet, and a separation roller brought into press-contact with the paper feed roller to separate the sheet, where the sheets are separated from the pick-up roller, the separation roller is rotated in a sheet return direction different from a sheet feed direction, and subsequently, the paper feed roller is separated from the separation roller. It is possible to prevent damage to a sheet and sheet jam from occurring in pulling out the load tray loaded with sheets to the front side.

A sheet feeding apparatus is provided with a pick-up roller that contacts sheets loaded on a load tray to pick up, a paper feed roller that feeds a picked-up sheet, and a separation roller brought into press-contact with the paper feed roller to separate the sheet, where the sheets are separated from the pick-up roller, the separation roller is rotated in a sheet return direction different from a sheet feed direction, and subsequently, the paper feed roller is separated from the separation roller. A sheet conveying apparatus includes: a feeding unit configured to feed a sheet member; a conveying roller that is provided downstream of the feeding unit in a conveying direction, and that is configured to convey the sheet member fed by the feeding unit downstream in the conveying direction; a motor configured to drive the conveying roller. In a state where the conveying roller is conveying a first sheet member that was fed by the feeding unit, if a value of a torque current component of a drive current flowing in a winding of the motor changes from a value greater than or equal to a predetermined value to a value less than the predetermined value, the feeding unit starts feeding of a second sheet member that is to be fed after the first sheet member.
