A sheet feeding device, which is included in an image forming apparatus and includes a device attachment body, includes a sheet container configured to accommodate a sheet, a support configured to support a lower face of the sheet in the sheet container, a sheet width regulator configured to regulate a position of the sheet in a sheet width direction, a conveying force applier configured to apply a sheet conveying force in a sheet conveying direction to the sheet in the sheet container, and a sheet guide disposed above the sheet in the sheet container and configured to regulate movement of the sheet in an upper direction.

A sheet processing system according to an embodiment includes a tray that supports a sheet on opposite sides of the sheet orthogonal to a conveyance direction of the sheet. The tray includes a first adjustable support and second adjustable support positioned opposite the first adjustable support in the direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction of the sheet. A skew sensor detects a skew angle of the sheet conveyed to the tray. A corner sensor detects positions of each corner on a front end in the downstream direction of the sheet conveyed to the tray. A controller controls movement of the first and second adjustable supports based on the detected skew angle and the detected positions of each corner on the front end of the sheet conveyed to the tray so that the sheet is conveyed to the tray without jamming.

A sheet processing system according to an embodiment includes a tray that supports a sheet on opposite sides of the sheet orthogonal to a conveyance direction of the sheet. The tray includes a first adjustable support and second adjustable support positioned opposite the first adjustable support in the direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction of the sheet. A skew sensor detects a skew angle of the sheet conveyed to the tray. A corner sensor detects positions of each corner on a front end in the downstream direction of the sheet conveyed to the tray. A controller controls movement of the first and second adjustable supports based on the detected skew angle and the detected positions of each corner on the front end of the sheet conveyed to the tray so that the sheet is conveyed to the tray without jamming.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, an input unit configured to receive input of folding unit information specifying either one of a first sheet folding unit and a second sheet folding unit, and a control unit configured to selectively perform a first mode and a second mode based on the folding unit information, the first mode being a mode in which the image forming unit forms the image on the sheet such that an orientation of the image becomes a first direction, the second mode being a mode in which the image forming unit forms the image on the sheet such that the orientation of the image becomes a second direction inverted from the first direction.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, an input unit configured to receive input of folding unit information specifying either one of a first sheet folding unit and a second sheet folding unit, and a control unit configured to selectively perform a first mode and a second mode based on the folding unit information, the first mode being a mode in which the image forming unit forms the image on the sheet such that an orientation of the image becomes a first direction, the second mode being a mode in which the image forming unit forms the image on the sheet such that the orientation of the image becomes a second direction inverted from the first direction.

An image forming apparatus includes a conveyance unit to convey a sheet toward an image forming position, a torque detection unit to detect a load torque applied to a motor driving the conveyance unit, and a control unit to perform a speed control for changing a rotational speed of the motor such that an interval at which a preceding sheet and a succeeding sheet pass through the image forming position approaches a target interval while the conveyance unit is conveying the succeeding sheet. The control unit executes an interval change processing for changing the target interval in the speed control based on a magnitude of a detected load torque when the conveyance unit is driven by the motor, the control unit controls power input to the motor by transmitting a command signal to a driving circuit of the motor, and the torque detection unit detects the command signal.

An image forming apparatus includes a conveyance unit to convey a sheet toward an image forming position, a torque detection unit to detect a load torque applied to a motor driving the conveyance unit, and a control unit to perform a speed control for changing a rotational speed of the motor such that an interval at which a preceding sheet and a succeeding sheet pass through the image forming position approaches a target interval while the conveyance unit is conveying the succeeding sheet. A sheet folding device, which is included in an image forming system and uses a sheet folding method, includes first and second drive motors, a first sheet conveyor driven by the first drive motor and configured to receive and convey a sheet toward a downstream side of a sheet conveying direction, a second sheet conveyor driven by the second drive motor and configured to receive the sheet conveyed from the first sheet conveyor and to convey the sheet to the downstream side of the sheet conveying direction, and a controller configured to fold the sheet to a predetermined folding length set according to an amount of conveyance of the sheet by the second sheet conveyor while the sheet is being held between the first and second sheet conveyors, and to perform a feedback control with an integral gain to the second drive motor.

An image forming apparatus includes a feeder unit, a separating unit, a conveying unit disposed downstream of the separating unit in a sheet feeding direction, an image forming unit disposed downstream of the conveying unit in the sheet feeding direction, a drive unit, and a control unit. The feeder unit feeds a sheet. The separating unit separates sheets fed by the feeder unit one by one. The conveying unit conveys the sheet. The image forming unit forms, while the sheet is being conveyed, an image on the sheet. The drive unit drives the conveying unit. The control unit controls the drive unit. After the conveyed sheet reaches the image forming unit, the control unit reduces a conveyance speed of the sheet conveyed by the conveying unit.
