FOIL TRANSFER DEVICE
A foil transfer device which transfers foil onto a sheet is disclosed herein. When a nip/release mechanism moves a first roller and starts causing a foil film to be pressed against a confined surface region on a sheet, located apart from a leading edge of the sheet, a controller executes: a first process of causing a conveyor roller to start conveyance of the sheet, while the first roller is positioned in a separate position; a second process of causing the conveyor roller to stop conveyance of the sheet before a foil transfer area reaches a transfer position; a third process of causing the nip/release mechanism to start moving the first roller from the separate position to a nipping position while the conveyance of the sheet is stopped; and a fourth process of causing the conveyor roller to restart conveyance of the sheet before the first roller reaches the nipping position.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
In an image forming apparatus, a paper feeder includes: an openable and closable paper feed tray that stores a paper; and an opening and closing detector that detects an open or closed state of a paper feed tray, when determining that abnormality occurs to the paper feed tray that is currently feeding the paper for an image forming device to form an image, an controller determines that the abnormality is caused by failure of the paper feed tray, and executes predetermined first abnormality processing, and when determining that the abnormality occurs to the paper feed tray at the time when the opening and closing detector detects that the paper feed tray is brought into a closed state from an open state, the controller determines that the abnormality is caused by storage failure of the paper stored in the paper feed tray, and executes predetermined second abnormality processing.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
In an image forming apparatus, a paper feeder includes: an openable and closable paper feed tray that stores a paper; and an opening and closing detector that detects an open or closed state of a paper feed tray, when determining that abnormality occurs to the paper feed tray that is currently feeding the paper for an image forming device to form an image, an controller determines that the abnormality is caused by failure of the paper feed tray, and executes predetermined first abnormality processing, and when determining that the abnormality occurs to the paper feed tray at the time when the opening and closing detector detects that the paper feed tray is brought into a closed state from an open state, the controller determines that the abnormality is caused by storage failure of the paper stored in the paper feed tray, and executes predetermined second abnormality processing.

A foil transfer device includes a foil transfer film cartridge, a housing, a display, a detector, and a controller. The foil transfer film cartridge includes a supply reel on which a foil film is wound. The housing allows the foil transfer film cartridge to be removably installed therein. The display is provided on the housing to display information. The detector detects foil film information in a state where the foil transfer film cartridge is installed in the housing. The foil film information includes at least one item selected from a group comprising a color of the foil, a width of the foil film, and a widthwise position of the foil film in a direction of the width of the foil film. The controller causes the foil film information detected by the detector to be shown on the display.

Sheet processing apparatus using radio signals received from wireless tags
A sheet processing apparatus for processing sheets each with a wireless tag, includes a roller, a wireless tag reader/writer, and a controller configured to control the roller to convey a first sheet with a first tag along a path, control the reader/writer to acquire first strengths of radio signals received from the first tag during the conveyance and second strengths of radio signals received from wireless tags of sheets not being conveyed, determine a threshold value of signal strength for distinguishing a wireless tag being conveyed from wireless tags not being conveyed based on the first and second strengths, and control the roller to convey a second sheet with a second tag and control the reader/writer to write to the second tag when a strength of a radio signal from the second tag is greater than or equal to the threshold value.
Sheet processing apparatus using radio signals received from wireless tags
A sheet processing apparatus for processing sheets each with a wireless tag, includes a roller, a wireless tag reader/writer, and a controller configured to control the roller to convey a first sheet with a first tag along a path, control the reader/writer to acquire first strengths of radio signals received from the first tag during the conveyance and second strengths of radio signals received from wireless tags of sheets not being conveyed, determine a threshold value of signal strength for distinguishing a wireless tag being conveyed from wireless tags not being conveyed based on the first and second strengths, and control the roller to convey a second sheet with a second tag and control the reader/writer to write to the second tag when a strength of a radio signal from the second tag is greater than or equal to the threshold value.
Image Forming Apparatus Having Tray for Receiving Recording Medium
In an image forming apparatus, a tray having first and second receiving portions is configured to move between a first position, at which at least part of the tray is positioned inside an apparatus body, and a second position, at which the tray is outside the apparatus body. The tray in the first position allows a first recording medium to be conveyed from the first receiving portion. When the tray is in the first position, the second receiving portion is configured to move between a third position, which is at an upstream side relative to a first opening of the apparatus body in a second direction, and a fourth position, which is at a downstream side relative to the third position in the second direction. The second receiving portion at the third position allows a second recording medium to be conveyed from the second receiving portion in the second direction.
Image Forming Apparatus Having Tray for Receiving Recording Medium
In an image forming apparatus, a tray having first and second receiving portions is configured to move between a first position, at which at least part of the tray is positioned inside an apparatus body, and a second position, at which the tray is outside the apparatus body. The tray in the first position allows a first recording medium to be conveyed from the first receiving portion. When the tray is in the first position, the second receiving portion is configured to move between a third position, which is at an upstream side relative to a first opening of the apparatus body in a second direction, and a fourth position, which is at a downstream side relative to the third position in the second direction. The second receiving portion at the third position allows a second recording medium to be conveyed from the second receiving portion in the second direction.

A sheet conveyance apparatus includes a conveyance guide configured to guide a sheet along a conveyance center line extending in a conveyance direction, a reference member including an abutment surface, a conveyance unit configured to convey the sheet while abutting a first edge of the sheet against the abutment surface, a detection unit configured to detect a first angle formed between the first edge of the sheet and a second edge adjacent to the first edge, a moving unit configured to move the reference member so as to change a second angle formed between the abutment surface and the conveyance center line, and a control unit configured to perform a movement process in which the moving unit moves the reference member such that, when the first angle is referred to as α, the second angle becomes an absolute value of a difference 90 degrees minus α.
