A sheet transport device includes a transport path along which a sheet is transported in one direction, the sheet being transported with a corner at a leading end of the sheet being located on a first lateral side of the path, a sheet rotating section that rotates the sheet so as to increase an angle of the sheet and so as to orient the leading end, a sheet moving section that moves the sheet toward the first lateral side, and plural sheet butting portions that are arranged side-by-side in the one direction, on the first lateral side, the sheet butting portions allowing the moved sheet to be butted thereagainst to orient the sheet in the one direction. When the sheet is butted against the sheet butting portions to be oriented in the one direction, the corner is located at a position where no sheet butting portions are provided.

The position adjuster is configured to, based on a detection result obtained by the plurality of position detectors, rotate in a rotation direction of the sheet within a plane of conveyance of the sheet to change the position of the sheet the position adjuster grips the sheet under conveyance to cause the leading end detector to rotate with the position adjuster in the rotation direction of the sheet within the plane of conveyance of the sheet.

The roller portion is configured to contact the sheet and is movable relative to the drive shaft in an axial direction and a rotation direction of the drive shaft. One of the drive shaft and the roller portion of the first drive roller includes a protrusion protruding toward the other one of the drive shaft and the roller portion. The other one of the drive shaft and the roller portion of the first drive roller includes a recessed portion. The recessed portion includes a peripheral wall that defines an opening such that the protrusion is positioned in the opening.

A sheet processing system for automated sheet adjustment includes a sensor system which captures at least a first image of a sheet of print media as the sheet is conveyed on a main transport path between a print media supply module and a marking device of an image rendering module. A control module computes a lateral error for the sheet, based on the captured at least first image, and computes an adjustment based on the computed lateral error. A sheet transport path adjustment mechanism translates a first portion of the main transport path relative to a second portion of the main transport path, based on the computed adjustment.

An image forming apparatus, in which a method of correcting a positional deviation of a sheet is performed, includes a detecting device to detect a position of the sheet, a pair of sheet conveying bodies to convey the sheet and correct the positional deviation of the sheet, an image forming device to form an image on the sheet, and circuitry to calculate a first positional deviation amount of the sheet based on a first detection result of the detecting device, cause the pair of sheet conveying bodies to correct the positional deviation of the sheet based on the first positional deviation amount, calculate a second positional deviation amount of the sheet based on a second detection result of the detecting device, and cause the image forming device to correct the positional deviation of an image forming position on the sheet based on the second positional deviation amount.

The apparatus may include: a first centering roller arranged at one side of the transfer path and applying a frictional force to a portion of the bill positioned at one side of the transfer path so that the bill is moved to the center line, the first centering roller having a first driven wheel formed in a border part to face one edge line of the transfer path; and a second centering roller arranged at the other side of the transfer path and applying a frictional force to another portion of the bill positioned at the other side of the transfer path so that the bill is moved to the center line, the second centering roller having a second driven wheel formed in a border part to face the other edge line of the transfer path.

Further, the pair of regulation guides are capable of shifting to guide positions for guiding the opposite end edges of the sheet, and retract positions retracted from the opposite end edges of the sheet more than the guide positions, wherein a control section conveys the sheet by the conveyance belt in a state in which the pair of regulation guides are positioned in the retract positions, and brings a front end of the sheet in a state of being conveyed by the conveyance belt into contact with a conveyance roller pair with drive halted.
