Apparatus and method for optically scanning an object in registration with a reference pattern
A system for scanning a dental arch of a patient includes a reference element having a reference pattern thereon; a holding mechanism configured to hold the reference element in a fixed position inside the patient's oral cavity adjacent to and spaced from the dental arch, wherein the holding mechanism is configured to be installed on the patient without contacting an occlusal surface of the dental arch; and an intra-oral scanner configured to scan the dental arch and an adjacent portion of the reference element to obtain a scanned image comprising the scanned portion of the dental arch and the scanned adjacent portion of the reference pattern.
Jigs for placing dental implant analogs in models and methods of doing the same
A placement jig for locating a dental implant analog in a physical model of a patient's mouth includes a base, a guide-strut receiving feature, a throughbore, and an angled receiving feature. The guide-strut receiving feature is positioned within the base and is configured to receive a guide-strut of the physical model thereby positioning a lower surface of the placement jig at a desired distance from an opening of a bore in the physical model. The throughbore receives a screw therethrough that engages the dental implant analog such that the dental implant analog is removably coupled to the base. The angled receiving feature is positioned about the throughbore on the lower surface of the base. The angled receiving feature includes a mating surface that is configured to abut a custom abutment positioned between the mating surface and the dental implant analog.

Apparatus for making dental prostheses and related methods
Apparatus and methods for making dental prostheses including a matrix housing that has a plurality of interconnected walls, one of which defines an aperture. The matrix housing houses a dental model of a set of teeth, a wax model of a clasp, and a matrix that defines a sprue. The aperture provides access to the sprue. The matrix housing may be used with a cartridge for containing thermoplastic resin and a resin discharging device. The discharging device includes a body defining a through hole, a cartridge mount attached to the body, a ratchet push rod inserted through the through hole and including a plurality of teeth, a trigger pivotably attached to the body, and a drive tooth connected to the trigger and the body. The drive tooth cooperates with the teeth of the push rod to control the pressure asserted by the push rod to the cartridge.
Occlusion determination device
The invention relates to an occlusion determination device (10), with a bite frame (34) and an extraoral bracket (12) which are connected together, wherein a reference element has at least one vertical leg (19, 21) and at least one horizontal leg (14, 16) and is connected by way of a bipupillar linkage (24) to the bite frame (34). The reference element is designed as an extraoral bracket (12) which extends vertically offset from the bite frame (34).
Retention insert and connection device for dental applications
A retention insert (1), for connecting a dental prosthesis structure to a dental implant or capping structure having a head designed for a press-fit connection, comprises a substantially circular disc-shaped end face (12), and a substantially ring-shaped retention edge (11), which protrudes from the end face (12) and has an outer surface (114). The end face (12) has an opening (121), and, starting from an end (11b) of the retention edge (11) directed away from the end face (12), a substantially axial slit (14) extends through the retention edge (11) and the end face (12) to the opening (121) of the end face (12). Connected to the opening on the end face, the slit of the retention insert according to the invention is a relatively simple structure which ensures that the retention insert, and in particular the retention edge thereof, has an elasticity sufficient for snap-fitting it onto the head or the patrix head. At the same time, a spring force from the snapped-on retention edge can therefore act on the head, such that the retention insert and parts connected thereto are clamped on the head. Moreover, this retention edge and this opening also have the result that imprecisions in the position of the implant structure, and in particular lack of parallelism, and also the effects of forces from different directions can be compensated, without the retention insert or parts thereof being substantially squeezed or similarly deformed.
