According to one embodiment, a sheet conveying device includes a conveying path forming unit and an orthogonal movement permitting part. The conveying path forming unit forms a path for conveying a sheet. The orthogonal movement permitting part is provided in the conveying path. The orthogonal movement permitting part conveys the sheet along the conveying direction. The orthogonal movement permitting part allows the sheet to move in a conveying orthogonal direction orthogonal to the conveying direction.

A sheet conveyance apparatus includes first and second abutment surfaces in contact a leading edge of a conveyed sheet before the sheet is nipped by a conveyance portion, which nips the sheet while the first and second abutment members are moving from respective standby positions together with first and second rotary members by being pressed by the leading edge. The first and second rotary members are in contact with the sheet being conveyed by the second conveyance portion after the leading edge of the sheet passes through the first abutment surface, the first rotary member, and the second abutment surface, and the second rotary member, and the first and second abutment members move toward standby positions by urging members after a trailing edge of the sheet passing through the first and second rotary members.

Media sheet skew correction
In an example of the disclosure, a driver correction specification is calculated based upon a time differential between a first sensor detection of a first portion of a leading edge of a media sheet and second sensor detection of a second portion of the leading edge. The driver correction specification is for causing skew correction of the media sheet as the media sheet moves along a media path to impact a blocker element. The driver is caused to operate according to the calculated driver correction specification.
Media deskew apparatus and deskew methods
A bunch of valuable media items are transported along a track surface within a deskew/pick module of a depository until a bottom item of the bunch covers a track sensor adjacent to an exit. Upper rollers are disengaged from a topmost item of the bunch and lower track-surface rollers are rotated in a direction that is perpendicular to a sidewall forcing a bottommost item of the bunch in alignment to the sidewall. Upper rollers are lowered onto the topmost item and pick rollers are activated to urge the bottommost item through the exit of the module. Upper rollers are raised off the topmost item and lower track-surface rollers are rotated; upper rollers are lowered onto the topmost item and pick rollers are activated to urge a next bottommost item through the exit. This process is repeated until no items are left in the bunch to process.

A trimming device includes: a moving unit including a transport unit that transports a booklet which includes one or more sheets and which is folded in half at a center portion of the booklet, with a folded portion of the booklet at a front, a correction unit that corrects a posture of the booklet in response to a leading end of the booklet transported by the transport unit abutting against the correction unit, the correction unit being capable of advancing to an abutting position on a path of the booklet and retracting from the path, and an upper guide unit that extends at least between the transport unit and the correction unit, the upper guide unit that guides an upper surface of the booklet, the moving unit being movable in a transport direction between (i) a predetermined upstream position and (ii) a downstream position downstream of the upstream position in the transport direction; a lower guide unit that guides a lower surface of the booklet transported by the transport unit; and a cutting unit that cuts a downstream fore edge portion of the booklet in the transport direction, the cutting unit being capable of advancing to the path of the booklet and retracting from the path of the booklet. The upper guide unit is configured such that a gap between the upper guide unit and the lower guide unit widens in accordance with a thickness of the booklet to allow the booklet to pass through the gap.

A printing apparatus includes a first feeding roller, a feeding motor configured to drive the first feeding roller, a second feeding roller, a conveyance roller, a conveyance motor configured to drive the conveyance roller, a printing unit configured to print the printing sheet, a detection sensor configured to detect the leading edge of the printing sheet, and a control unit configured to, when the printing unit performs a printing operation on a preceding sheet, drive the feeding motor in synchronization with the conveyance motor before the detection sensor detects the leading edge of a succeeding sheet, and continuously drive the feeding motor so that the conveying speed of the succeeding sheet by the feeding motor becomes higher than that of the preceding sheet after the detection sensor detects the leading edge of the succeeding sheet.
