CONVEYANCE APPARATUS
A conveyance apparatus that conveys a sheet by passing the sheet through a nip formed between a first conveyance roller and a second conveyance roller contacting each other. The conveyance apparatus includes a first gate member, a second gate member, and a third gate member into which a rotational shaft of the first conveyance roller is loosely inserted, the first and second gate members being disposed at a predefined interval, the third gate member being disposed between the first and second gate members. The first, second, and third gate members each include a portion protruding radially outwards, and the protruding portions are positioned on a conveyance path during no sheet conveyance, the protruding portion of the third gate member being positioned upstream of the protruding portions of the first and second gate members in a conveyance direction.
SHEET STACKING APPARATUS, POST-PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM
A sheet stacking apparatus includes an ejector, a stacker, a wall, and an upper surface detector. The ejector ejects a sheet, and the stacker stacks the sheet ejected from the ejector. The wall contacts a trailing end of the sheet ejected from the ejector in an ejection direction to align the sheet. The upper surface detector detects an upper surface on a trailing end side of the sheet stacked on the stacker in the ejection direction. When the sheet moves toward the wall, the upper surface detector moves from a home position in which the upper surface detector detects the upper surface of the sheet to a retracted position in which the upper surface detector does not contact the sheet moving toward the wall.

A sheet conveyance apparatus that conveys a sheet along a curved path shorter than the sheet and corrects skew of the sheet, includes: a conveyance roller that sends the sheet into the curved path; a guide that guides the sheet along the curved path; and a gate that is hinders advance of the leading end, generates a moment about a normal of the sheet passing through the leading end, and allows advance of the leading end by being pushed away by the leading end, wherein the guide includes a projection projecting toward a movement space for the sheet on a surface facing the movement space, and the projection abuts a center portion of the sheet in a longitudinal direction and generates a moment about an axis parallel to an advance direction of a portion that has come into contact with the projection.
Sheet conveying device and image forming apparatus incorporating the sheet conveying device
A sheet conveying device, which is included in an image forming apparatus, includes a drive device, a pair of sheet holding rollers to convey a sheet in a sheet conveying direction, a gate to which a leading end of the sheet contacts, a first detector disposed upstream from the pair of sheet holding rollers to detect a position of the sheet and a second detector disposed downstream from the pair of sheet holding rollers to detect a position of the sheet. The pair of sheet holding rollers performs a primary correction to detect and correct a lateral displacement amount of the sheet by moving the pair of sheet holding rollers while holding the sheet, and then performs a secondary correction to detect and correct at least one of a subsequent lateral displacement of the sheet and an angular displacement of the sheet.

Provided are a medium conveying device and an inkjet printer that can convey a medium stably. In a case where a paper P is conveyed along a plane in a conveying unit 40, a posture of the paper P is corrected by a posture correction unit 20, and then the paper P is delivered to the conveying unit 40 by a delivery unit 30. The delivery unit 30 holds a leading end portion of the paper P of which the posture is corrected by the posture correction unit 2 with a paper holding bar 31, and delivers the paper P to the conveying unit 40 by moving the paper holding bar 31 linearly along a conveying direction of the paper P by the conveying unit 40.

Ink jet card printer having a card position sensor
In a method of operating an ink jet card printer, which includes a transport belt, a print unit including an ink jet print head, a sensor and a gantry, a card is loaded onto the transport belt along a processing axis using an exposed surface of the transport belt. The sensor and the ink jet print head are moved relative to the card using the gantry. A current position of the card is detected using the sensor. An image is printed to the card using the ink jet print head when the detected current position of the card indicates that the card is supported on the transport belt in a print position. Printing is interrupted when the detected current position of the card indicates that the card is not in the print position.
