A paper medium skew correcting device includes: a support including a pair of fixed stop plates arranged in parallel; a skew correcting tapered roller assembly including a tapered roller, a reference plate located at a large end face of the tapered roller and a transmission shaft a tapered cover plate covering on the tapered roller with a skew correcting passage formed between an inner wall of the tapered cover plate and an outer wall of the tapered roller, an auxiliary pressure roller mechanism is mounted on an outer wall of the tapered cover plate and is configured to press a paper medium against the outer wall of the tapered roller tightly, the tapered cover plate is provided with an opening; and a driving transmission assembly. The device fully uses combined action of centrifugal force and friction force to realize skew correction and conveying of the paper medium.

A sheet transport apparatus according to an embodiment includes a roller having a surface formed from an elastic material. The roller transports a sheet. A rotation mechanism rotated the roller around an axis of the roller. A twist mechanism selectively twists the roller with respect to the axis. When the roller is twisted and the rotation mechanism rotates the roller, a sheet transported by the roller is transported in a first direction perpendicular to the axis and in a second direction parallel to the axis. When the roller is not twisted and the rotation mechanism rotates the roller, a sheet transported by the roller is transported in the first direction and not in the second direction.

A transport module for flat items comprising at least one transport element borne in a transport element carrier having a drive shaft is designed for installation in a station of an item processing system and, after installation, is borne rotatably around an axis of the drive shaft. It is one of multiple transport modules of an identical design. The transport element has, on one side, a lower friction coefficient than on the other side of an equator and is driven by the drive shaft via transmission means of the transport module. The transport element carrier carries the transmission means of the transport module and has a spring assembly allowing it to be shifted in the direction of gravity and contrary to it.

Ejecting damaged/deformed media

A deskew module of a valuable media depository is selectively controlled ejection processing. Upon detection of a jammed item of media within the deskew module, angled drives are activated to lift a jammed corner of the item off a track base of the deskew module and free the item's jammed corner. Next, straight drives are activated to eject the item from the deskew module.
