Safety chuck

A safety chuck mounted to equipment that process web material is provided. The safety chuck is provided with a die spring connecting a moveable jaw with a spindle, said spring urging the moveable jaw into a fully closed position. A number of magnets mounted on a mounting flange will engage the moveable jaw, overcoming the spring's force and holding the moveable jaw in a fully open position. Rotation of the spindle releases the magnets allowing the spring to force the moveable jaw back into a fully closed position.

Reel-up and a method of reeling a paper web in the dry end of a paper machine

The invention relates to a reel-up 3 for receiving and winding into a roll 4 a paper web W that arrives from a drying cylinder 2 in a paper making machine and which drying cylinder 2 is located upstream of the reel-up 3 and which paper web W follows a path of travel from the drying cylinder 2 to the reel-up 3. The reel-up 3 comprises a rotatably mounted reel spool 5 onto which a paper web W can be wound to create a paper roll 4 of increasing diameter and an endless flexible belt 6 mounted for rotation along a predetermined path of travel such that the flexible belt 6 forms a loop. The flexible belt 6 is positioned adjacent to the reel spool 5 to engage the paper web W against the reel spool 5 during winding. The reel-up 3 is arranged to receive the paper web W at the end of a path of travel of the paper web W which ends in a point of contact P with the flexible belt 6 where the paper web W meets the flexible belt 6 such that a wedge-shaped space WS is formed between the flexible belt 6 and the paper web W. From the point of contact P, the paper web W will be carried by the flexible belt 6 to the reel-spool 5. According to the invention, the reel-up 3 further comprises an air deflector 8 for diverting or evacuating air away from the wedge-shaped space WS formed between the flexible belt 6 and the paper web W. The invention also relates to a method of reeling a paper web.

Recording apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a hopper which is provided with a mounting surface on which a medium is set, and which is provided to be capable of swinging between a first posture in which the mounting surface of the medium is in a fallen state, and a second posture in which the mounting surface is in an uplifted state, a first pathway that delivers rolled paper, as the medium, to the hopper from an upstream side thereof, a second pathway that delivers cut form paper, as the medium, to the hopper from an upstream side thereof, and a first sensor that detects the medium in the first pathway, wherein the hopper swings from the first posture in a direction that assumes the second posture on the basis of detection of the medium by the first sensor.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSFERRING A FILM WOUND ONTO A WINDING MANDREL, ORIENTED IN PARTICULAR VERTICALLY AND PREFERABLY SUPPORTED EXCLUSIVELY IN THE REGION OF ITS UPPER END

A method is disclosed for transferring a film, preferably a wound-on stretch film, wound onto a winding mandrel, oriented in particular vertically and preferably supported exclusively in the region of its upper end, of an unwrapping apparatus, such that when the transfer position of the winding mandrel is reached, the film wound onto the winding mandrel is pulled off the winding mandrel by means of at least one transfer device and delivered to a disposal area. An apparatus for transferring a film, preferably a wound-on stretch film, wound onto a winding mandrel, oriented in particular vertically and preferably supported exclusively in the region of its upper end, of an unwrapping apparatus, is disclosed. The apparatus encompasses at least one transfer device for pulling off the film wound onto the winding mandrel when the transfer position of the winding mandrel is reached.

A WIND-UP APPARATUS FOR A WEB MATERIAL

The invention relates to a roll making apparatus comprising spindles optionally having apertures for pressurized air and/or for applying a vacuum, the spindles being movable between a retracted position and an extended position; a roll engaging face configured to engage a roll carried by a spindle, upon the spindle carrying said roll moving to said retracted position, to move the roll relative to the spindle.

Material strip processing system

A material strip collection mechanism coiling fed material strip on a reel includes a vertically positioned reel bracket rotatable about a vertical axis between a first configuration and a second configuration. The mechanism further includes a first arm holding the reel and a second arm each rotatable to drive the reel and coil the material strip on the reel. With the reel bracket in the first configuration, the first arm is in a material strip collection position to allow the material strip to be coiled on each empty reel held by the first arm to form a full reel, while the second arm is in a standby position to allow the full reel held by the second arm to be replaced with a new empty reel.

Method for producing separator and method for slitting

Provided is a method for producing a separator which method less causes a tear in the separator. The method is a method for producing a separator by slitting, in a direction in which a separator original sheet (12b) being porous is conveyed, the separator original sheet (12b) into a plurality of separators (12a), including the steps of: (a) conveying the separator original sheet (12b) in a state where the separator original sheet (12b) is in contact with a roller (77); and (b) slitting the separator original sheet (12b) at a portion where the separator original sheet (12b) is in contact with the roller (77).
