A sheet guide device has a crumpling prevention unit disposed to a movable part with a guide surface that guides a side edge of die-cut label paper conveyed over the top of a feed plate, and prevents crumpling the side portion of the die-cut label paper of which the side edge contacts the guide surface. The crumpling prevention unit includes a pressure-bearing base unit disposed protruding from the top of the feed plate and causing the side portion of the passing die-cut label paper to rise to the side; a sheet presser part that presses the die-cut label paper to the conveyance path surface at the same or adjacent position to the pressure-bearing base unit; and a side presser member that the side edge of the die-cut label paper inclined by the pressure-bearing base unit contacts.

An apparatus (un-interleaver) for unwinding a roll of material interleaved with another material, and for separating the materials, includes a first platform, a second platform, a tension-sensor, an edge-sensor, and a controller. The controller monitors signals generated by the tension sensor and the edge sensor, and in response to the signals: a) causes the speed at which the second platform rotates to change to maintain a predetermined tension in the second material as the second material travels from the first platform toward the second platform, and b) causes the second platform to move relative to the first platform to align the edge of the second material traveling toward the roll of second material with the edge of the second material in the roll.

A winding apparatus (200) and a method of winding a product strip onto (202) a reel (204) are provided, the winding apparatus (200) comprises, a feeder module (216) for supplying the product strip to the reel; a first winding module part (218) that is configured to engage the reel, the first winding module part (218) being further configured to move along a first alignment path to align the reel in relation to the feeder module (216) at an operative position for receiving the product strip; wherein first winding module part (218) is configured to align the reel (204) in a horizontal position that is normal to a vertical axis (Y) of the winding apparatus and the reel (204) is rotatable at the operative position about a longitudinal axis passing through the reel; and wherein the feeder module (216) is arranged to convey the product strip (202) for winding onto the reel (204), the product strip (202) being within a vertical plane normal to the ground.

The invention relates to a method and a vacuum-coating system (10) for coating a band-type material (11), in particular made of metal. For this, the band-type material (11) is moved, via a conveying section (12), in a transport direction (T) and is vacuum-coated within a coating chamber (14), in which a vacuum is applied. As seen in the transport direction (T) of the band-type material (11), at least one flatness optimization device (39) is arranged upstream of the coating chamber (14), through which flatness optimization device the band-type material (11) can be guided. In this way, a desired flatness is generated for the band-type material (11).

An apparatus (1) for controlling the unwinding of a web (2) wound on a core is disclosed. The apparatus (1) includes a turnbar (10), an actuator (20), a sensor (30), and a controller (70). The turnbar (10) includes a target location to receive the web (2). The actuator (20) is coupled to the turnbar (10) and includes an axis of movement (29). The sensor (30) measures transverse placement of the web (2) relative to the target location and transmits an input signal to the controller (70) when transverse placement of the web (2) differs from the target location. The controller (70) provides an output signal to the actuator (20 to move the turnbar (10) along the axis of movement (29) such that the web (2) maintains substantial alignment with the target location.
