PRINTING APPARATUS AND PRINTING METHOD

Provided is a technique that enables proper sorting of discharged print media by suppressing curling of each of the print media sufficiently. A determining unit determines a curling suppressing operation to be executed such that in a case where sorting operation is executed, the suppressing operation having a higher effect of suppressing curling is executed than in a case where the sorting operation is executed. Then, a print control unit controls a print head to perform printing on print media while executing the suppressing operation determined by the determining unit.

Media stops

An example apparatus includes a media receiving portion having a leading edge receiving region and a trailing edge receiving region for receiving media traveling onto the media receiving portion in a direction from the trailing edge receiving portion the leading edge receiving portion. The example apparatus further includes a leading edge stop coupled to the media receiving portion at the leading edge receiving portion. The leading edge stop is resiliently coupled to the media receiving portion to bias against movement of the leading edge stop from a resting position.

Knife-type folding machine

A sheet supplying unit 1 supplies sheets S one by one. A knife-type folding unit 5 folds the sheet. A first sensor 28 detects the sheet entering the folding position. A second sensor 30a, 30b detects the sheet passing through the opening. A timer 31 measures a time interval from end of sheet detection by the second sensor to start of sheet detection by the first sensor. A sheet feed interval change unit 33 calculates a reduction amount of the sheet feed interval using the measured values of the timer and changes the sheet feed interval based on the reduction amount each time a predetermined number of the sheets are folded.

Recording apparatus and conveying apparatus

A recording apparatus includes a conveying unit, a supporting unit, and a static elimination unit. The conveying unit conveys a recording medium in a first direction to a recording area where recording is performed by a recording unit. The supporting unit supports the recording medium conveyed by the conveying unit and includes an abutment surface that abuts the recording medium when the supporting unit supports the recording medium. The static elimination unit eliminates static from the recording medium in a static elimination portion. The static elimination portion is not provided at a position opposed to the abutment surface and is provided at a position not opposed to the abutment surface in the supporting unit.

DECURLING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

A decurling device includes: a first transport unit including a transport roller, the first transport unit that sandwiches a transported sheet and transports the transported sheet further downstream; and a second transport unit including an endless belt that is in contact with the transport roller. The transport roller has an elasticity that, when the belt is pressed against the transport roller, allows the belt to bite into the transport roller by a bite amount corresponding to a pressing force, the second transport unit includes an abutting member disposed inside the belt, the abutting member pressing the belt from an inside of the belt and causing the belt to abut against the transport roller, and a guide member, the abutting member includes an upstream protrusion, an downstream protrusion, the upstream protrusion and the downstream protrusion being provided at positions away from each other at an upstream portion and a downstream portion in a sheet transport direction, each of the upstream protrusion and the downstream protrusion protruding toward an inner surface of the belt, and a recess provided in an intermediate portion between the upstream protrusion and the downstream protrusion in the sheet transport direction, the recess being recessed away from a straight line connecting a top portion of the upstream protrusion and a top portion of the downstream protrusion, the guide member includes a contact surface that is in contact with the inner surface of the belt, the contact surface defining a part of a circulation track of the belt, and the upstream protrusion protrudes beyond a virtual circle that is tangent to the contact surface.

Image forming apparatus

In an image forming apparatus, a conveyance section forms a conveyance path and conveys a sheet in a conveyance direction. The conveyance section includes a conveyance roller for rotating around a roller shaft extending in a direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction, and a guide member. The guide member includes a first guide member for rotating around a first axial line to open/close with respect to a first partial region of the conveyance path, and a second guide member for rotating around a second axial line to open/close with respect to a second partial region different from the first partial region. The first axial line extends in a direction parallel to a longitudinal direction of the roller shaft. The second axial line extends in a direction intersecting with the longitudinal direction. The first guide member opens in conjunction with an opening action of the second guide member.

SHEET CONVEYING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM THEREWITH

A sheet conveying device includes a sheet conveying passage, an upper conveying guide provided in the sheet conveying passage and facing the upper surface of a sheet, a lower conveying guide facing the lower surface of the sheet, a conveying member conveying the sheet along the sheet conveying passage, a sheet stack tray arranged above the upper conveying guide. The upper conveying guide is swingable up and down, with one end part of it in the sheet conveying direction or in the sheet width direction perpendicular to the sheet conveying direction serving as a pivot shaft. The sheet stack tray has a movable part making contact with the upper conveying guide at least when it swings, and the movable part is movable between a sheet receiving position where it forms a sheet stack surface and a retracted position where it has swung upward from the sheet receiving position.
