The mounting section has a driven section that engages with the drive section and is driven by the drive section. When the driven section driven by the drive section engages with the drive section, the protection section is in the release state, and when the driven section does not engage with the drive section, the protection section is in the protection state.

A sheet alignment apparatus includes a supporting portion configured to support a sheet, a first alignment member configured to abut an end portion in a first direction of the sheet supported by the supporting portion and align a position of the sheet in the first direction, a first moving unit configured to move the first alignment member in the first direction, a second alignment member configured to abut an end portion in a second direction of the sheet supported by the supporting portion and align a position of the sheet in the second direction, the second direction being perpendicular to the first direction, and a second moving unit configured to move the second alignment member in the second direction, wherein the first moving unit is disposed below the supporting portion, and wherein the second moving unit is disposed above the supporting portion.

A scanner including a medium discharging apparatus includes a discharge tray including a first tray configured to receive a front end of a medium discharged by a discharge roller pair and allow placement of the medium therein, and a second tray that is located downstream of the first tray in a medium discharge direction and configured to allow placement of the medium therein, the discharge tray being configured to switch between a first posture in which the first tray and the second tray form a first angle α1, and a second posture in which the first tray and the second tray form a second angle α2 smaller than the first angle α1, without changing the posture of the first tray with respect to the discharge roller pair.

A scanner including a medium discharging apparatus includes a discharge tray including a first tray configured to receive a front end of a medium discharged by a discharge roller pair and allow placement of the medium therein, and a second tray that is located downstream of the first tray in a medium discharge direction and configured to allow placement of the medium therein, the discharge tray being configured to switch between a first posture in which the first tray and the second tray form a first angle α1, and a second posture in which the first tray and the second tray form a second angle α2 smaller than the first angle α1, without changing the posture of the first tray with respect to the discharge roller pair.

A sheet processing apparatus includes a conveyance unit configured to convey a sheet, a stacking portion on which the sheet conveyed by the conveyance unit is stacked, a first regulation member configured to regulate a position of an edge portion, in a conveyance direction, of the sheet stacked on the stacking portion, a second regulation member configured to regulate a position of an edge portion, in a width direction orthogonal to the conveyance direction, of the sheet stacked on the stacking portion, a binding unit supported movably in the conveyance direction and configured to perform a binding process of binding the sheet stacked on the stacking portion, and a moving unit configured to move the second regulation member in the conveyance direction accompanied with a movement, in the conveyance direction, of the binding unit.

A convertible printed product collecting assembly includes a rotatable first rod connected to a printer, a second rod, a collecting fabric having flexibility, the collecting fabric fixed between the rotatable first rod and the second rod, wherein the collecting fabric is to receive a printed product from the printer, and two supporting legs to tiltably connect between the printer and the second rod.

A convertible printed product collecting assembly includes a rotatable first rod connected to a printer, a second rod, a collecting fabric having flexibility, the collecting fabric fixed between the rotatable first rod and the second rod, wherein the collecting fabric is to receive a printed product from the printer, and two supporting legs to tiltably connect between the printer and the second rod.

According to one embodiment, a sheet post-processing device includes a first tray to receive sheets from an image forming unit, a second tray to receive sheets from the first tray, and a third tray to receive sheets from the second tray. The third tray is movable relative to the second tray. A bundle claw is configured to move sheets in a first direction from the second tray to the third tray. A controller is configured to move the third tray relative to the second tray according to the sheets on the second tray. Depending on various characteristics of the sheets on the second tray or the presence of sheets already on the third tray, the position of the third tray may be changed to reduce possible misalignments of sheets in the transfer from the second to third tray.

According to one embodiment, a sheet post-processing device includes a first tray to receive sheets from an image forming unit, a second tray to receive sheets from the first tray, and a third tray to receive sheets from the second tray. The third tray is movable relative to the second tray. A bundle claw is configured to move sheets in a first direction from the second tray to the third tray. A controller is configured to move the third tray relative to the second tray according to the sheets on the second tray. A printer extension kit that modifies a printer to receive and output longer pieces of paper. The output extension part allows a printer to output longer pieces of paper. In more detail, the output extension part prevents longer pieces of paper from falling of the catch tray of a printer. The output extension part is attached into the catch tray of a printer. The output extension clip provides another means for a printer to output longer pieces of paper. In more detail, the output extension clip is attached along the output paper catch of a printer.
