The present invention provides a method for dental cutting including the steps of providing a dental unit water line irrigation system, the dental unit water line irrigation system including a container surrounding a solution chamber; providing a lubricant for use in the dental unit water line irrigation system, the lubricant defining a composition including 10 to 25% by weight of ethanol; 5 to 25% by weight of glycerol; 10 to 25% by weight of xylitol; 0.5 to 5% by weight of a nonionic surfactant and emulsifying agent; 0.15 to 0.5% by weight of a plurality of flavoring agents; and 45 to 60% by weight of water; and selectively operating the water line irrigation system to express the lubricant onto a dental cutting site.

A dental prosthesis has a gum sealing rim that snugly contacts the patient's gum. The cavity formed within the gum sealing rim is accessed by through holes via which a pressurized cleaning fluid may be injected into the cavity. The cleaning fluid swirls around and washes of bacteria and deposits. Through a number of cleaning fluid drains, the cleaning fluid exits again the cavity. An additional drain blocker may be configured such that it blocks the cleaning fluid drains while it is clamped by the patient between the teeth. The resulting pressure build up in the cavity causes the cleaning fluid to squeeze out and clean the sealing interface between the gum sealing rim and the patient's gum.

A handpiece is configured to removably hold the proximal end of the cannula at a distal handpiece end. A gas stream source is connectable to a proximal end of a tube. A distal end of the tube is connectable to the proximal handpiece end. A cut-off valve is disposed within the handpiece in fluidic communication in series between the distal handpiece end and the proximal handpiece end. The cut-off valve is configured to cut off the gas stream flowing through the handpiece. A manually-controlled operating element is mechanically coupled to the cut-off valve, where the operating element is configured to be controlled by a dentist or technician holding the handpiece.
