The present invention is to provide an image forming system including a sheet folding processing apparatus and a sheet pressing apparatus capable of performing additional folding processing without decreasing productivity. The sheet pressing apparatus of the present invention includes a pressing roller including a pressing surface configured to press a fold line part of a folding processed sheet conveyed from a carry-in port in a thickness direction of the sheet and a guide portion configured to guide the folding processed sheet so that the fold line part is positioned at the pressing surface, a nipping member configured to nip the fold line part between the pressing surface and the nipping member, a first moving unit configured to move the pressing roller to a nipping position at which the fold line part is nipped between the nipping member and the pressing surface of the pressing roller and a retracting position.

The present invention is to provide an image forming system including a sheet folding processing apparatus and a sheet pressing apparatus capable of performing additional folding processing without decreasing productivity. The sheet pressing apparatus of the present invention includes a pressing roller including a pressing surface configured to press a fold line part of a folding processed sheet conveyed from a carry-in port in a thickness direction of the sheet and a guide portion configured to guide the folding processed sheet so that the fold line part is positioned at the pressing surface, a nipping member configured to nip the fold line part between the pressing surface and the nipping member, a first moving unit configured to move the pressing roller to a nipping position at which the fold line part is nipped between the nipping member and the pressing surface of the pressing roller and a retracting position.

A sheet folding apparatus includes: a conveying roller conveying a sheet in a predetermined conveying direction; a folding roller pair disposed downstream of the conveying roller in the conveying direction and rotating while nipping a predetermined position of the sheet to form a fold; a conveying path for conveying the sheet in the conveying direction from the conveying roller to the folding roller pair; an abutting member moving downstream in the conveying direction and abutting against the predetermined position of the sheet to bend the sheet downstream; and a loop space where the sheet is bent between the conveying roller and folding roller pair in a direction crossing the conveying direction. The folding roller pair stops while nipping a front end of the sheet fed from to form a loop of the sheet in the loop space, and the abutting member moves to abut against the loop.

A sheet folding apparatus includes: a conveying roller conveying a sheet in a predetermined conveying direction; a folding roller pair disposed downstream of the conveying roller in the conveying direction and rotating while nipping a predetermined position of the sheet to form a fold; a conveying path for conveying the sheet in the conveying direction from the conveying roller to the folding roller pair; an abutting member moving downstream in the conveying direction and abutting against the predetermined position of the sheet to bend the sheet downstream; and a loop space where the sheet is bent between the conveying roller and folding roller pair in a direction crossing the conveying direction. The folding roller pair stops while nipping a front end of the sheet fed from to form a loop of the sheet in the loop space, and the abutting member moves to abut against the loop.

A sheet folding device includes a folding rollers pair, a folding blade, a movable guide, and a driving mechanism. The folding rollers pair includes a first roller and a second roller, and causes a sheet conveyed in a first conveyance direction to pass through a first nip area between the rollers. The folding blade is selectively disposed in a folding position and in a retracting position. The movable guide can reciprocate between a covering position covering the second roller disposed downstream of the first roller in the first conveyance direction and the first nip area and a non-covering position exposing the second roller and the first nip area. The drive mechanism disposes the folding blade in the folding position while disposing the movable guide in the non-covering position, and disposes the folding blade in the retracting position while disposing the movable guide in the covering position.

A sheet folding device includes a folding rollers pair, a folding blade, a movable guide, and a driving mechanism. The folding rollers pair includes a first roller and a second roller, and causes a sheet conveyed in a first conveyance direction to pass through a first nip area between the rollers. The folding blade is selectively disposed in a folding position and in a retracting position. The movable guide can reciprocate between a covering position covering the second roller disposed downstream of the first roller in the first conveyance direction and the first nip area and a non-covering position exposing the second roller and the first nip area. The drive mechanism disposes the folding blade in the folding position while disposing the movable guide in the non-covering position, and disposes the folding blade in the retracting position while disposing the movable guide in the covering position.

A post-processing apparatus includes a blade that is to be pressed against a recording medium at a folding position where the recording medium is to be folded, and a support portion that supports the blade, the support portion includes a movable body to which the blade is fixed and that moves together with the blade and an insertion portion that is inserted into the movable body, and the insertion portion and one surface of the movable body are pressed each other.

A post-processing apparatus includes a blade that is to be pressed against a recording medium at a folding position where the recording medium is to be folded, and a support portion that supports the blade, the support portion includes a movable body to which the blade is fixed and that moves together with the blade and an insertion portion that is inserted into the movable body, and the insertion portion and one surface of the movable body are pressed each other.

In a printing system capable of supplying a sheet of a job having undergone print processing by the printing unit of a printing apparatus to a post-processing unit capable of executing at least a specific type of post-processing among a plurality of types of post-processes, when the target job requires the specific type of post-processing, the printing apparatus is inhibited from executing print processing of the job without explicitly determining a sheet necessary for the print processing of the job by a user using a user interface unit. When the target job does not require the specific type of post-processing, the printing apparatus is permitted to execute print processing of the job without explicitly determining a sheet necessary for the print processing of the job by the user using the user interface unit.

In a printing system capable of supplying a sheet of a job having undergone print processing by the printing unit of a printing apparatus to a post-processing unit capable of executing at least a specific type of post-processing among a plurality of types of post-processes, when the target job requires the specific type of post-processing, the printing apparatus is inhibited from executing print processing of the job without explicitly determining a sheet necessary for the print processing of the job by a user using a user interface unit. When the target job does not require the specific type of post-processing, the printing apparatus is permitted to execute print processing of the job without explicitly determining a sheet necessary for the print processing of the job by the user using the user interface unit.
