An apparatus for the comminution of a botanical feedstock includes a vessel, a screen positioned in the vessel above a first feedstock outlet and spaced from the top of the vessel, and a blade rotatably mounted above and generally parallel to the screen. The blade has a leading side, a trailing side, and a radial blade length. At least a portion of the leading side has a cutting edge and at least a portion of the trailing side has a downwardly extending trailing portion. The downwardly extending trailing portion has a lower edge having a plurality of discontinuities along a radial length of the trailing portion. The cutting edge is spaced from the upper surface of the screen by a first distance and a lowermost portion of the lower edge is spaced from the upper surface of the screen by a second distance.

Exemplary embodiments of a chipper shredder are provided. In some exemplary embodiments, the chipper shredder can include a rotor disc having an obverse side and a reverse side, one or more chipper blades provided on the obverse side, one or more impeller blades provided on the reverse side, the one or more impeller blades being perpendicular to the rotor disc, one or more hammer blades on the reverse side, the one or more hammer blades being substantially parallel to the rotor disc, and one or more L-blades on the reverse side that extend outwardly and upwardly from a center of the rotor disc.

A rotary plant cutter, in one example comprising: a base frame; a drum supported by the base frame; a first disk mounted within the drum and fixed to the drum; the first disk having surfaces defining a plurality of radial slots through the first disk; a second disk mounted within the drum adjacent to and above the first disk; the second disk configured to rotate relative to the first disk about a rotational axis; a drive unit having a housing fixed to the drum; and the drive unit having a shaft coupled to rotate the second disk relative to the first disk.

A land preparation tool includes a tool body having a cutting surface, mounting surfaces disposed on the tool body opposite the cutting surface, and opposing side surfaces each extending between the cutting surface and a different one of the mounting surfaces. One mounting surface angles inwardly from a distal edge of a side surface toward the tool body. Another mounting surface angles inwardly from a distal edge of the other side surface toward the tool body. An opening is disposed on the tool body opposite the cutting surface and between the mounting surfaces. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

A lawn debris vacuum machine having a mobile housing with an inlet chute and a discharge chute, and a motor mounted on the housing that is connected for rotatably driving a vacuum impeller disposed in the housing between the inlet chute and the discharge chute. A thrasher protrudes into the inlet chute and is rotatably driven from the motor to break up debris in the inlet chute which would otherwise be sufficiently large enough to block the inlet chute. A rotating brush is mounted to the housing at the opening of the inlet chute for brushing debris into the inlet chute. The brush is rotatably driven in a direction opposite to the forward direction of the machine's progress.

A waste processing machine for reducing material and having a feed assist system. A cutting assembly on a frame reduces material. A feed system on the frame directs material toward the cutting assembly. A winch assembly includes a line with a line end for securing material, and a driver on the frame to urge the line end toward the driver. A keeper fixed to the frame secures the line end. A sensor detects utilization between: a docked configuration with the line tensioned against between the driver and the keeper; and an undocked configuration with the line loosened. A control unit allows operation of the feed system in the docked configuration, and interrupts the feed system in the undocked configuration. A feed mechanism actuation bypasses the interrupted operation to advance material for a bypass period, and a limit mechanism overrides operation of the feed mechanism for a subsequent limit period.

A material processing machine having a reducing system for material reducing operations is disclosed. The reducing system comprises a rotor having processing tools to reduce the material within a reducing chamber. A colorizer system includes a manifold positioned adjacent a screen defining a plurality of apertures for directing colorant from a colorant source through the apertures towards the reducing system. The material reducing operations may comprise a two-stage reducing operation with selectively interchangeable screens that incrementally reduce the material to provide substantially uniform colorizing and material size.

A material application system includes a hopper assembly and a conveyor assembly. The hopper assembly includes an upper portion and a downcomer portion. Bulk material is loaded into the upper portion and passes through the downcomer portion. The downcomer portion may include a sail plate for agitating the bulk material to inhibit the formation of clogs in the bulk material.

A land preparation machine includes a land preparation apparatus connected to a lift assembly of a vehicle. The land preparation apparatus has a rotatable drum and a plurality of tools assemblies disposed thereon. A tool assembly of the plurality of tool assemblies includes a tool holder and a tool attached thereto. The tool includes a tool body having a cutting surface disposed on a side of the tool body, an apex disposed on a different side of the tool body opposite the cutting surface, and tool mounting surfaces disposed on the side of the tool body opposite the cutting surface. One tool mounting surface extends outwardly from the apex at an angle toward the cutting surface. Another tool mounting surface extends outwardly from the apex, opposite the other tool mounting surface, at an angle toward the cutting surface. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

The modular leaf shredder includes a housing having a plurality of interlocking housing subsections. The modular leaf shredder further includes a trimmer connector adapted to form a physical connection with a cooperating member of a trimmer in order to physically join the housing to the trimmer. The head of the trimmer includes a rotating head having at least three sets of cutting wires, at least two sets of cutting wires being substantially perpendicular to each other. A modular leaf shredder is provided. The modular leaf shredder includes a housing having a plurality of interlocking housing subsections. The modular leaf shredder further includes a trimmer connector adapted to form a physical connection with a cooperating member of a trimmer in order to physically join the housing to the trimmer. The head of the trimmer includes a rotating head having at least three sets of cutting wires, at least two sets of cutting wires being substantially perpendicular to each other.
