A post-processing apparatus for an image forming apparatus includes a processing tray on which a sheet bundle is placed for discharging onto a discharge tray, a detector configured to detect presence or absence of the sheet bundle on the processing tray, and a controller. The controller is configured to control driving of the processing tray to discharge the sheet bundle onto the discharge tray and to determine whether or not to output an error if a detection result of the detector after the processing tray has been driven to discharge the sheet bundle onto the discharge tray indicates presence of the sheet bundle. The controller outputs the error if the sheet bundle is not a last sheet bundle of a post-processing job and does not output the error if the sheet bundle is the last sheet bundle of the post-processing job.

A post-processing apparatus for an image forming apparatus includes a processing tray on which a sheet bundle is placed for discharging onto a discharge tray, a detector configured to detect presence or absence of the sheet bundle on the processing tray, and a controller. A printing apparatus comprises: a printing unit configured to print on a printing medium; a discharge tray to which the printing medium printed by the printing unit is discharged; a control unit that controls the discharge tray to be accommodated in the apparatus and to be extended from the apparatus; and a storage unit that sets and stores a first information for controlling the discharge tray in accordance with an operation performed by the apparatus, wherein, if the first information indicates an effect that accommodation of the discharge tray is inhibited, the control unit does not accommodate the discharge tray in the apparatus.

In a sheet feeding apparatus, a recording material is stacked in a stacking unit, a sheet surface detection member takes on one of a first state, in which the sheet surface detection member displaces according to a height of a top surface of the material, and a second state. A detector detects the sheet surface detection member. A feeding unit is mounted in and removed from a main body. The feeding unit includes a feed roller and a switching unit that switches the sheet surface detection member to one of the first state and the second state. The switching unit switches the sheet surface detection member to the second state in response to the feeding unit being replaced, and a controller detects that the feeding unit has been replaced based on a state change detected by the detector.
