SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPLYING A BRAKE FORCE DURING WITHDRAWAL OF MATERIAL FROM A BOBBIN

In one embodiment, a system for imparting a force during operation of a wire bobbin comprises a main shaft for receiving a wire bobbin, and a brake element operably coupled to the main shaft. The system may further comprise an adjustment assembly comprising an adjustment block and at least one adjustment spring, wherein the at least one adjustment spring is biased to provide a force on the adjustment block in a vertically-upward direction. The adjustment block may be operably coupled to the main shaft, such that a mass of the main shaft imposed upon the adjustment block combined with resistance of the at least one adjustment spring determines a vertical position of the main shaft and the brake element. A brake assembly may provide a brake force on the brake element, wherein the brake force is imparted to the main shaft via the brake element.

Cable spool and storage

Systems and methods of dispensing telecommunications cable from a network component are provided. A system includes a housing, an axle, and a spool. The housing defines an interior region and includes a cable storage portion and a mounting surface defining a receptacle. The axle is configured to removably attach to the receptacle. The spool is configured to be disposed on the axle, and has a first flange proximal to the mounting surface and a removable second flange distal to the mounting surface when the spool is disposed on the axle. The spool has a drum portion configured to support a coiled fiber optic cable and dispense the fiber optic cable as the spool rotates on the axle. Undispensed cable can be removed from the spool with the second flange removed. The cable storage portion of the housing is configured to receive the undispensed coil.

Pipe deployment reel adapter shaft systems and methods

Techniques for implementing a pipe deployment system that includes a pipe reel, in which the pipe reel includes reel ends and a reel drum and the pipe reel enables a pipe segment to be wrapped on the reel drum. The pipe deployment system includes a brake assembly with a brake wheel having a shaft socket keyed with flat inner surfaces, and a shaft adapter assembly, which includes an adapter head to be coupled between the pipe reel and the brake assembly. The adapter head includes an adapter shaft keyed with flat outer surfaces, in which the adapter shaft matingly interlocks with the shaft socket and is to be partially inserted through a reel end of the pipe reel, and a rotation control pin coupled to the adapter shaft, in which the rotation control pin is to be inserted between adjacent reel spokes in the reel end of the pipe reel.

Flange stand and adapter for flanges

A flange for use on a reel, a flange adapter, and a flange stand are provided. The flange may include an outer circumference, a hub assembly, and an arbor hole adapter that is adapted to engage an arbor hole to secure the flange to the reel. The arbor hole adapter may include an expandable portion that is movable between an extended position and a retracted position. First and second expansion plates may be coupled to the arbor hole adapter and connected by shoulder bolts that guide movement of the plates between an abutting configuration and a spaced-apart configuration, allowing movement of the expandable portion relative to the reel for modified engagement. The flange stand may include a base, a support portion, and a coupler for engaging a central extension of the flange to allow the flange to be supported in an upright position.
