Rapid deploy guy system

A tension assembly indicates when a desired tension is achieved between two objects connected by the tension assembly. The tension assembly may be attached in series with a tension adjustor between a structure and an anchor, or any other two objects, and include a compressible component and an indication mechanism. As tension between the structure and anchor is adjusted using the tension adjustor, the compressible component adjusts in size, allowing the indicator to indicate whether the current tension is satisfactory. The compressible component includes a spring which, when compressed or expanded, allows the indicator to move toward or away from another indicator. When the indicators are aligned, the desired tension is achieved.

DEVICE FOR THE TRANSFER OF A MECHANICAL FORCE INTO AN ELECTRICAL SIGNAL
20170133580 · 2017-05-11 ·

The present invention concerns a device for the transfer of a mechanical force to a piezo-electric element for the generation of an electrical signal corresponding to the mechanical force, e.g. the tension of a thread or the like and/or the movement of the same, wherein the piezo-electric element is positioned in a holder in order to be actuated by the mechanical force on the end surfaces.

Linear media handling system

An improved system for handling delicate linear media and in particular to a method and apparatus for winding delicate linear media such as superconducting wire or optical fibers onto a spool. A combination of direct closed loop control and media routing design facilitates the handling of the delicate media without causing damage. The axial tension in the linear media may be closely controlled during winding by means of feedback control loop using tension measurements to control the rotation speeds of the wind-from and wind-to spools. Further, during winding, the delicate linear media is only exposed to large radius bends with no reverse bending.

Tether management system and method

A tether management system is disclosed. The tether management system includes a spool, a tension sensor, a controller and a moveable pulley. The spool is rotatable to reel in and reel out a tether. The tension sensor measures a tension of the tether. The controller receives a desired tension of the tether and controls the rotation of the spool to reel in and reel out the tether based on a difference between a measured tension from the tension sensor and the desired tension of the tether. The moveable pulley is disposed to engage tether between the spool and the tension sensor. The moveable pulley being able to be biased and moveable along a linear path to adjust a tension of the tether when the tension of the tether deviates from the desired tension. A method for managing tether is also disclosed.

ADAPTIVE TENSION COMPENSATOR SYSTEM FOR OFFSHORE CHARGING OPERATIONS BETWEEN A VESSEL AND AN OFFSHORE POWER STATION

The present invention provides for an adaptive tension compensator system for offshore charging of a vessel via an umbilical cable of a motor driven reeling drum provided at a power station. The compensator system comprises a motor hub member (102), mountable to a motor shaft (20) and configured to transmit rotary motion between a motor (18) and the reeling drum (16) along a first rotational axis (104); a reel hub member (106), mountable to the reeling drum, arranged coaxial with said motor hub member and configured to transmit rotary motion between the reeling drum and the motor, and a coupling mechanism (108), operably coupled between said reel hub member and said motor hub member, adapted to transmit rotary motion between said reel hub member and said motor hub member when the motor is in a first mode, and adapted to provide a biased rotational motion of said reel hub member about said first rotational axis between a first angular position (110) and a second angular position (112) relative to said motor hub member, when the motor is in a second mode.
