An apparatus for forming and sorting informational items comprises a folding unit, a conveyor belt, a camera, a controller, and a diverter assembly. The folding unit forms a folded article from a sheet of paper. The conveyor belt transports the folded article. The camera captures an image of the folded article as it passes by the camera. The controller receives and processes the image, and the diverter assembly causes the folded article to move off of the conveyor belt when the controller determines that the folded article fails to satisfy at least one predetermined criteria.

The apparatus comprising a pusher plate driven by a rack and pinion apparatus to stack a media item that is in a final position within the apparatus onto a media stacking platform. The media item is urged into the final position such that a trailing edge of the media item overhangs and rests on a fixed media guide and such that a leading edge of the media item overhangs and rests on a hinged media guide with a bottom surface of the media item elevated above the media stacking platform. The rack and pinion apparatus drives the plate past the media guides causing the hinged media guide to drop and the media item to fold along the leading edge as the media item is stacked onto the platform.

A pusher plate stacking bin apparatus is provided for a valuable media depository. The apparatus comprising a pusher plate driven by a rack and pinion apparatus to stack a media item that is in a final position within the apparatus onto a media stacking platform. A tray unit assembly includes a housing, a separating/stacking unit, a tray unit and an elevating member. The tray unit is provided to be inserted into the housing and includes a first tray body fixed to the housing when the tray unit is inserted into the housing, and a second tray body connected to the first tray body to be slidable in a vertical direction and having a media stacking space formed therein. The elevating member is disposed to be movable up and down and configured to be in contact with a bottom surface of the second tray body to move the second tray body toward the stacking roller unit or the separating roller unit.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for processing a medium, including: a accepting unit in which the medium is loaded; a dispending unit from which the medium is withdrawn; a medium discriminator configured to discriminate a denomination of the medium loaded into the accepting unit; a plurality of medium storage boxes configured to each discriminate and store the medium by denomination of the medium discriminated by the medium discriminator; and a controller configured to store the medium loaded through the accepting unit by the same denomination in the medium storage box and withdraw the loaded medium from the medium storage box according to a predetermined withdrawal criterion.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for processing a medium, including: a accepting unit in which the medium is loaded; a dispending unit from which the medium is withdrawn; a medium discriminator configured to discriminate a denomination of the medium loaded into the accepting unit; a plurality of medium storage boxes configured to each discriminate and store the medium by denomination of the medium discriminated by the medium discriminator; and a controller configured to store the medium loaded through the accepting unit by the same denomination in the medium storage box and withdraw the loaded medium from the medium storage box according to a predetermined withdrawal criterion.

In some examples, the disclosure describes a device that includes a first media tray positioned at a media input of a pick and separation mechanism, a second media tray positioned at the media input of the pick and separation mechanism, a media scan guide to position a sheet of print media at the media input of the pick and separation mechanism, a shared media path comprising a turn roller to receive the sheet of print media from the pick and separation mechanism from a first direction and provide the sheet of print media to a print zone in a second direction, and an output zone to receive the sheet of print media from the shared media path.
