The apparatus may further include a switch in movable engagement with the guide frame, the switch being movable between a first position at which the custom position pawl is maintained at a disengaged position with respect to the custom pawl teeth of the rack and a second position at which the custom position pawl is free to move between the disengaged position and an engaged position with respect to the custom pawl teeth of the rack.

A binding apparatus includes a pair of pressing members to sandwich and press a sheet bundle to bind the sheet bundle, a rotator to rotate to periodically separate and contact the pressing members with each other, a detector to detect whether the rotator is between a first position at which the pressing members are separated from each other and a second position downstream from the first position in a forward rotation direction of the rotator, and control circuitry. The second position is upstream in the forward rotation direction from a peak position at which a pressing force between the pressing members is maximum. The control circuitry is configured to rotate the rotator in a reverse direction to the forward rotation direction to move the rotator to the first position when the detector detects that the rotator is between the first position and the second position in the forward rotation direction.

A sheet feeding apparatus includes: a storage part that stores a sheet, and a feeding part that has a feeding roller for feeding the sheet. The storage part and the feeding part are configured to be integrally inserted/withdrawn into/from an apparatus enclosure. The feeding roller is moved from a feeding position to a retracting position before the storage part and the feeding part are withdrawn from the enclosure.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
In an image forming apparatus, a sheet is guided into a first conveyor path or a second conveyor path selectively when a first cover is in a closed position, and is ejected onto the first cover when the first cover is in an open position. Upon power-up, a controller causes a first conveyor roller to rotate but if the first cover is in the open position, when a sheet sensor detects a sheet, the controller does not cause a second conveyor roller to rotate, and causes a flapper to swing from a first position to a second position, and when a front end of the sheet reaches a position downstream of an upstream end of the flapper in a conveyance direction of the sheet conveyed by the first conveyor roller, the controller causes the flapper to swing from the second position to the first position.

The sheet feeding cassette includes a cassette frame, a first lift plate and a second lift plate. The cassette frame includes a bottom plate and side plates extending in the feeding direction. The bottom plate and the side plates form a sheet placement space. The first lift plate is disposed on the bottom plate, configured to rotate up and down around a first axis extending along a width direction perpendicular to the feeding direction, and configured to lift a leading end portion in the feeding direction of the sheet. The second lift plate is configured to rotate up and down around a second axis extending along the feeding direction and to lift a side end portion along the feeding direction of the sheet.

A binding apparatus includes a pair of pressing members to sandwich and press a sheet bundle to bind the sheet bundle, a rotator to rotate to periodically separate and contact the pressing members with each other, a detector to detect whether the rotator is between a first position at which the pressing members are separated from each other and a second position downstream from the first position in a forward rotation direction of the rotator, and control circuitry.
