Gingiva indexing devices and methods with various defined red colour regions have a colour grey card or grey card assigned to it for detecting the gingiva status, in particular for producing a gingival restoration. The devices and method comprise an analysis of at least one region of the gingiva status with regard to its shades of red, the position of the shades of red, the colour profile of the shades of red, their geometry and/or their morphology. The analysis can take place manually and/or digitally, and gingiva information is obtained, in particular in the form of a gingiva map, and optional production of a virtual or real model of a gingival restoration as a reproduction of the missing part of the gums and/or part of gingiva.

METHOD FOR MONITORING AN ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

A method of treatment includes updating a three-dimensional digital reference model of at least part of the arches of a patient, or initial reference model by using at least two two-dimensional images, and obtaining a final reference model where said two two-dimensional images is acquired by the patient with an individual acquisition apparatus. from said update, a determination is made of at least one of the following: a recurrence, a rate of evolution of a change of positioning of the teeth, an optimization of a date on which an appointment is made with an orthodontist or a dentist, an assessment of effectiveness of an orthodontic treatment, and/or an assessment of evolution of positioning of the teeth toward a theoretical model corresponding to a determined positioning of the teeth, including an enhanced positioning of the teeth, and/or dentistry. Using the determination, a suitable treatment is administered.

The dental appliance provides a mounting site for one or more of a tracking mechanism of a surgical robot, fiducial markers used to image the jaw, and an arch of prosthetic teeth. The dental appliance may be designed for either the maxilla or mandible of the jaw and may be designed to make at least three points of contact with the jaw to provide stability thereto. In certain embodiments, the dental appliance is affixed to the patient's jaw with at least one screw such as a single palatal screw. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
