WASTE REDUCTION IN SHEET PRINTING SYSTEMS
When a sheet ejector ejects an unsuitable sheet from a transport path in a printing system, additional sheets downstream of said unsuitable sheet are generally discharged to preserve the image order as prescribed by the print instructions. This results in large amounts of waste material (sheets and ink). The amount of waste may be reduced by providing a controller which, when receiving print instructions concerning a first and a second set of images, schedules the images of the first and second sets into an alternating image sequence defining the print order. Sheets printed with images from the first set are designated to a first output holder while sheets printed with images from the second set are transported to the second output holder. When a sheet for the second image set is rejected, the first image set need not be discharged, resulting in a reduced amount of waste material.

PAPER FEED ROLL
A paper feed roll includes a shaft body and an elastic body layer formed on the outer circumferential surface of the shaft body. The outer diameter of the elastic body layer is 10-50 mm, the outer circumferential surface of the elastic body layer is provided with, in the circumferential direction, 1-8 grooves extending in the axial direction, the grooves have a constant groove width in the depth direction or have a groove width that gradually decreases in the depth direction, the groove width of the grooves is 0.2-1.0 mm, and the groove depth of the grooves is 0.2-1.0 mm.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR UNWINDING AND INSPECTION OF METALLIC STRIP COILS
The invention relates to a device for unwinding a coil of a metal strip including a bogie translatable back and forth along a guiding system; a blocking system which is arranged on said bogie and which contains a first and a second shaped element, wherein the first shaped element is a roller, preferably an idle roller; an actuating system for modifying the distance between the two shaped elements, for defining an intercepting position and a gripping position of the strip; and an element for detaching the strip from the coil provided on the first shaped element. A relative method of unwinding and inspecting a metal strip is also described, in particular used to check the state of wear of rolling cylinders used for producing the inspected strip.
BANKNOTE PROCESSING APPARATUS
A banknote processing apparatus capable of properly storing and dispensing a banknote is provided. The banknote processing apparatus includes: a transport unit that transports a banknote; a long-edge orientation storage unit that receives and stores, in a first orientation, the banknote transported by the transport unit, the first orientation being an orientation in which a short edge of the banknote is a leading edge thereof; a short-edge orientation storage unit that receives and stores, in a second orientation, the banknote transported by the transport unit, the second orientation being an orientation in which a long edge of the banknote is a leading edge thereof; and a control unit that selects, by controlling the transport unit, a storage destination for the banknote transported by the transport unit, from among any of the long-edge orientation storage unit and the short-edge orientation storage unit.
