The movable guide is movable between an ordinary position and an opening position. The first magnetic body magnetically attracts the second magnetic body so as to hold the movable guide at the opening position, in a state where the post-processing device is shifted to the detached position. The first magnetic body separates from the second magnetic body and releases magnetic attraction to the second magnetic body when the post-processing device slides from the detached position to the attached position.

A post-processing apparatus includes a blade, a transfer mechanism, a sheet folding roller pair, a motor, a drive control device, and a control device. The blade presses into the sheet to form a fold line in the sheet. The transfer mechanism moves the blade toward and away from the sheet. The sheet folding roller pair conveys the sheet with the fold line formed by the blade by pinching the sheet at a nip between the sheet folding roller pair. The motor rotatively drives the sheet folding roller pair. The drive control device controls drive of the motor. The control includes a control circuit. When, through the processor executing a control program, the control device controls the transfer mechanism to withdraw from the nip the blade having been pressed into the sheet and the nip by the transfer mechanism, the control device controls the drive control device to stop the motor.

A postprocessing device includes a processing tray, a sheet processor, an air blower, an inlet roller pair, and a drive controller. The drive controller performs an air sending operation, by causing the air blower to send air along the transport direction, before a second recording sheet contacts the upper face of the first recording sheet, and stop sending air before a trailing edge of the second recording sheet in the transport direction passes a nip region defined by the inlet roller pair.

A post processing apparatus includes a first sheet stacking portion, a stapling portion, a driving portion, and an airflow generating portion. The first sheet stacking portion stacks the sheets conveyed from an image forming apparatus that forms images on the sheets. The stapling portion is provided below a sheet conveying path leading to the first sheet stacking portion so as to be able to move along a width direction of the sheet orthogonal to a conveying direction of the sheet, and is configured to bundle sheets stacked on the first sheet stacking portion. The driving portion generates a driving force that moves the stapling portion according to the power supply. The airflow generating portion generates an airflow that flows into a movement space of the stapling portion via the driving portion.

A medium processing apparatus for processing a medium ejected from an image forming apparatus includes a conveyor, a slit, a medium processing device, a stopper, and detectors. The slit communicates with an opening of a housing into which a medium is manually inserted from outside and includes a placement face on which the inserted medium is placed. The placement face has a first side and a second side orthogonal to the first side. The first and second sides are not parallel to a direction in which a side face of the housing extends. The medium processing device processes the medium conveyed by the conveyor or the medium placed on the slit. The stopper regulates edges of the medium along the first and second sides of the placement face. The detectors are disposed on the stopper to detect the medium.
