The oral cleansing device includes a handle, a cleansing attachment (e.g., a brush head attachment), and an irrigating attachment (e.g., an oral irrigator tip). The handle includes one or more control buttons to activate motion of an output shaft and/or an irrigating feature of the oral cleansing device. The cleansing attachment includes a plurality of bristles and is attachable to the handle such that movement of the output shaft is transferred to the cleansing attachment. The irrigating attachment defines an internal fluid passageway for receiving fluid from the handle and is attachable to the handle such that movement of the output shaft is not transferred to the irrigating attachment.
Dental appliance compliance monitoring
The present disclosure describes devices, systems, and methods for monitoring use of an oral appliance in an oral cavity using extra-oral sensor(s). One method includes sensing one or more physical properties of an oral appliance using an extra-oral sensor, providing a compliance signal from the extra-oral sensor, the compliance signal including an electronic representation of the one or more physical properties of the oral appliance, identifying one or more patient compliance factors based on the compliance signal, the one or more patient compliance factors providing a basis to identify an extent of compliance of usage of the oral appliance with an orthodontic treatment plan, and providing one or more compliances indicators based on the one or more patient compliance factors, the one or more compliance indicators providing a basis to indicate the extent of compliance.
Ultrasonic dental tool with wear threshold indicator, wear indicator tool, and method of determining tool wear
A dental ultrasonic tool configured to connect to a magnetostrictive or piezoelectric transducer of a dental instrument operating in the frequency range between 18 kHz and 50 kHz. The tool includes a tip and a singular surface marking having a minimum width of 0.5 mm disposed on the tip. The tip includes a distal point as a datum. The singular surface marking is spaced-apart from the distal point of the tip and defines at least one edge. The at least one edge is not coincident with a first flexural node of the tip at an operating frequency of the tip. Dental ultrasonic tip wear measurement tools for measuring the wear on a tip are also provided.
WEAR-OUT DETECTION FOR AN ORAL CARE DEVICE
A wear-out assessment for an oral care system (14) (e.g. an oral cleaning device) is disclosed. A sensor unit (16) of the oral care system is adapted to provide a sensor signal related to a cleaning efficacy of a cleaning function of the oral care system. The sensor unit (16) may be, or may be coupled to, a component which is used during execution of an oral care function of the device, for example a sensor for detecting cleaning progress in the mouth, or a component which drives a cleaning or treatment action in the mouth. The sensor signal (20) is used for performing a wear-out assessment via monitoring characteristics of a signal which is indicative of progress of the oral cleaning efficacy during an operation session (e.g. a clean level in the mouth) and monitoring a length of time that it takes for a certain threshold of efficacy to be reached in a session. If the length of time is over a certain threshold, this can be an indication that the relevant components of the oral care system are wearing out.
Predictive maintenance system and method for 1-wire handpiece
A predictive maintenance system and method for a dental handpiece includes a condition sensor for sensing a condition of the handpiece to obtain sensor data and providing wired communication of the sensor data and a device identifier from the handpiece to a delivery unit. The system is configured to store sensor data, a device identifier and a time stamp in data logging equipment to obtain a usage history for the handpiece. The system determines a maintenance condition of the handpiece based on the sensor data and/or the usage history of the handpiece. In response to a severity of the maintenance condition, the system provides a preventative maintenance indication of a future failure for the handpiece or stops operation of the handpiece.
Sterile dental setup pack
A system and method for forming a sterile dental pack is disclosed. The method includes preparing a first wrap and a second wrap; arranging a plurality of dental disposable supplies on the first wrap; and wrapping the plurality of dental disposable supplies within the first wrap and the second wrap to form an airtight container. Also disclosed is a sterile dental pack dispensing system. The sterile dental pack dispensing system may include a storage container with an opening, the storage container being configured to store a wrapped sterile dental pack; an output configured to receive the wrapped sterile dental pack from the storage container; and a fiber optic indicator configured to cause the wrapped sterile dental pack to move from the storage container to the output through the opening.
INTRAORAL SCANNER SLEEVE AUTHENTICATION AND IDENTIFICATION
Apparatuses, including sleeves, intraoral scanning systems to use these sleeves, and methods of using the sleeve, that authenticate the sleeve for use with an intraoral scanning system. Authentication may include verifying that the sleeve is new (unused) and/or verifying that the sleeve is appropriate and/or intended for use with the intraoral scanning system. Once authenticated, operation parameters of the intraoral scanning system can be automatically set based on information from a scanned identifier on the sleeve.
SENSOR AND SYSTEM FOR MONITORING THE WEARING DURATION OF ORTHODONTIC ELASTICS
The invention relates to a sensor (1) for fastening to a multi-bracket appliance for the upper jaw (2), to a multi-bracket appliance for the lower jaw (3), to an aligner for the upper jaw (2) and/or to an aligner for the lower jaw (3), in order to measure the time span during which a force is applied to a pressure, tension and/or shear-force sensor (11) of the sensor (1), whereby the wearing duration of orthodontic elastics (4) for multi-bracket appliances (2, 3) and/or aligners (2, 3) can be monitored, the sensor (1) being a sensor that is independent of the multi-bracket appliance (2, 3) and the brackets (23) and including a timer, a microcontroller having a data memory, and an elastic holder (16) and/or elastic guide (17). The invention further relates to a system (5) for monitoring the wearing duration of orthodontic elastics, including the sensor (1), a multi-bracket apparatus or an aligner for the upper jaw (2, 2) and the lower jaw (3, 3), an elastic (4) and an external reading device. The invention further relates to a method for monitoring the wearing duration of orthodontic elastics and to the use of the sensor (1) and of the system (5).
Material property monitoring and detection using wireless devices
Embodiments of the present invention provide devices (tags with sensors), systems, and methods to determine states (such as, but not limited to, complex impedance) of materials-of-interest, such as tissue-of-interest, implants, and construction members, to name a few, in a non-invasive and contactless way; and using comparatively safe and/or low energy electromagnetic radiation, such as radio waves. Negligible-sized wireless-tags with sensors are implanted in such materials-of-interest. Using wireless communication and imaging technology, the states of the materials-of-interest may be monitored; which may allow non-invasive and contactless detection of problems such as cracking, bending, excessive pressure, improper temperature, and/or the like. Additionally, initially unknown locations of the implanted negligible-sized wireless-tags with sensors may be readily determined upon a given scanning (reading) session; and thus mapped to provide an effective image of the material-of-interest.
